According to Sky News, an Israeli spokesperson has described this as "just the beginning", so its important we mobilise strongly on Monday to show that people in Ireland will not stand for these horrible atrocities from the Israeli rogue state.

Do you really expect a country - surrounded by not the most friendly neighbours in the world - to accept some 90 rockets
every day, targeted towards civilian population without a respond?

Colin, you don't understand. That is exactly what the organisers of this demo want. "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" - the destruction of the state of Israel.

And only hallucinaiting fundamentalists such as you and your friends, Av, call for "the destruction of the state of Israel"...

Why solidarity with Gaza? The israelis left the strip years ago, and all that has happened since is increased Hamas violence against other Palestinians and mindless firing of thousands of rockets into Israel, these latter with the sole intention of killing civilians. The Israelis haven't behaved like that. They have treated Palestinians in their hospital, send huge amounts of aid into Gaza, and retaliated, as any free country would, against terrorist violence. As someone else said here, Ireland would do exactly the same. And the North did exactly that when IRA gunmen and bombers went over the border to kill innocent Irish men and women. My whole family was almost wiped out in a single bombing. Did I head to Dublin to express my solidarity with the bombers?

All of us care about ordinary Palestinians, the sort who don't take up arms and just want to get by. Hamas and groups like them aren't letting them get by. When Israel left a series of greenhouses and equipment for the people of Gaza, in order to lay a basis for their economy, the men of violence tore them down and trashed them. Should we show solidarity to thickheads like those? In whose imagination did that or the digging of tunnels or the firing of rockets or the shameful kidnap of Gilad Shalit do the least good to ordinary Palestinians. All those actions have done is increase the self-importance of Hamas and Islamic Jihad leaders. Their enormous egos set fantasy (we will destroy Israel and establish an Islamic state there) over very obvious realities (pushed, Israel will eradicate them). Gaza could be prosperous and progressive, but not with these leaders and their mindless followers. Let's get some peace-loving Palestinians into power, realists who can talk with Israel and create a viable Palestinian state. The Israelis aren't going anywhere. The sooner the Palestinians grasp that, the sooner their lives will be transformed. We Irish above all should understand why the men of violence must be displaced, and why sane people must never show solidarity with them.

Iran has egged on Hamas to provoke this war because any war in the Middle East puts up oil prices and as Iran is dependent on oil royalties for 80% of its budget.

Then Iran as any imperialist of ancient Persia wishes to re-establish hegemony as far as the Med on the stepping stones of the Shi'ite arc of Lebanese Shi'ites and the Syrian Awalites who like all Moslem sub sects are Shi'ite variants. For proof only look at how assorted Sunni states are holding off criticism of Israel whom they prefer to do their dirty work but will make croc tears of it after.

Altogether there is a "funny peculiar" historic irony in a violent authoritarian God squad from the Middle Ages that shoots thousands of rockets at plainly civilian targets then complains when its military and government are pasted and a few overshots kill civilians that it cynically put its military facilities amongst.

Who declared Resistance until death! Hamas.
Who declared the cease fire over? Hamas.
Who declares that Israel has no right to exist? Hamas.

This conflict remember, is Part IX, or X of a war the Arabs started in violent rejection of UN 181 two state policy in 1947. The only reason the War has continued has been because well intentioned Western aid has been spent on keeping refugees refugees - the same in the Saharawi dispute at the West end of [Arab] North Africa.

This has enabled the Arabs to war without considering the civil consequences as their population is fed by silly Westerners afraid for their oil, or UN votes, or to buy Arab support in the Cold War (or WW II before that) - not that they got the Wst much for their efforts.

With peak oil obviously on the horizon and oil on the way out because of global warming the Arabs will lose a lot of leverage. Then it will be possible to squeeze them to put up peace with Israel or shut up on Palestine.

Yours warmly,
Frank Adam

It is not about stopping terrorism. Hamas has repeatedly offered Israel an indefinite cease-fire in exchange for lifting the blockade. And, on a half dozen occasions, Israel accepted the deal but did not live up to its side of it.

The 2009 war began after Israel ignored its commitments under the Gaza cease-fire agreement, continued the blockade, and then provoked the resumption of attacks on Sderot through a series of targeted assassinations of Palestinians.

The racist and openly fascistic criminal Zionist entity, known as 'Israel', claims that no cease-fire agreement curtails its right to kill any Palestinian it deems to be a terrorist - no trial necessary when you are an openly fascistic criminal Zionist entity, known as 'Israel'

Israel asserts that it will not accept any long-term cease-fire agreement with Hamas because it likes to frequently make the false claim that 'Hamas does not recognize its right to exist.'

Hamas accepts 'Israel’s right to exist’

By KHALED ABU TOAMEH - printed in The Jerusalem Post

Hamas has accepted Israel’s right to exist and would be prepared to nullify its charter, which calls for the destruction of Israel, Aziz Dwaik, Hamas’s most senior representative in the West Bank, said on Wednesday.

"The [Hamas] charter was drafted more than 20 years ago," Dwaik noted, adding that his movement would even be prepared to "nullify" the document.

"No one wants to throw anyone into the sea," he said.

(For some reason the JP decided to delete that article from it's on-line archive - I susppose they don't want anyone to find out that their silly little justifications and demands are all either lies or based on lies)

But Israel does not need the permission of anyone -- let alone Hamas -- to exist. All it needs from Hamas is an end to violence and that is precisely what Hamas is offering, in exchange for lifting the blockade.

But Israel does not want n end to the violence, as it's frequent attempts to provoke violence attest. Without the violence all of the Israeli justifications will be shown to be the hollow lies that they really are. Without the violence the master plan of complete take-over of all territory currently inhabited by Palestinians will be harder to accomplish.

Israel is an aggressive fascistic militarist expansionist nation, and has been since the day of it's inception.
