We the Peoples of Europe
Internationally acclaimed author and global justice activist Susan George will be in Dublin and Belfast from Tuesday April 8 to Saturday April 12 to launch her new book, We The Peoples Of Europe. The book, published by Pluto Press outlines the authors critique of the present direction of the EU, her account of the French referendum campaign on the EU Constitution in 2005 and George’s distinctive vision for the future of Europe.
We the Peoples of Europe Book Details
Does the Lisbon Treaty advance or undermine Social Europe? Can the neo-liberal economic agenda of the EU be squared with the social needs of its citizens. After the French and Dutch electorates rejected the EU Constitution what direction should the EU now take? What should European people be fighting for? Leading writer and alter-globalisation activist Susan George explains what is at stake for all peoples of Europ, why the French rejected the EU Constitution and what the implications of the Lisbon Treaty will be for the EU and its citizens. She asks how will this treaty really affect our lives and who will it really empower--corporations or ordinary Europeans? What kind of future do we want to build together as Europeans? Written with clarity and authority, We the Peoples of Europe will help you make up your own mind.
