Cheerio Cheerio Cheerio
He's resigning on the 6th May (to spend more time with his sterling bank drafts)
another corrupt politician. nothing will change.
Just look at his face you know he's an honest man. Thanks to Eoghan Harris for pointing this out.
Wasnt it Bertie who dropped the Capital Gains Tax from 40% to 20%? Combine that with a tax loop hole which allows developers to avoid paying Stamp Duty on purchased land and the low interest rates of the last decade and we had the scene set for one of the biggest scams in economic history. A country 4% urbanised with some of the highest land prices in Europe??? Free Market my ass.
Bertie was told by the AG that the Kenny Report (which recommended that zoned land by limited in price to its agricultural price plus 25%) could be implimented without a constitutional ammendment. This would have avoided the misery now faced by tens of thousands of Irish citizens. It would also have avoided the Irish landlords making obscene fortunes literally overnight. Naturally Bertie sided with the Landlord class against the Irish people.
