Republican Sinn Fein say they will be protesting at the presence of a representative of the British Crown in Croke Park.
Republican Sinn Féin will be actively protesting at the presence of a representative of the British Crown in Croke Park on February 23. Such a visit must be seen for what it is, part of the normalisation of British rule in Ireland.
Anne Windsor will visit Croke Park not as a private individual but as the representative of the British Crown. This is an institution which claims sovereignty over six of the nine counties of Ulster, enforcing that claim with an army of occupation.
For this reason no representative of the British Crown is welcome in any part of Ireland.
IS THIS PROTEST COORDINATED WITH THE PROTEST PLANNED
FOR THE SAME DAY OUTSIDE THE BRITISH EMBASSY
OR ARE THEY TWO SEPERATE EVENTS?
British Embassy Protest Against Royal Visit
Saturday January 26, 2008 at 2.30pm
BY éirígí
Hi Confused !
They are two separate events which have been independently organised by two separate organisations .
Thanks!
Sharon.
i will be their with numbers to protest at croke park
this can not be seen to be normal
and it can NOT been seen as a warm up for the brittish queen to visit
it is a disgrace that the gaa let her be invited [money talks]
this will be a peaseful protest but the minute the brittish queen
invite to this country is announced we be back to the bad old days
people did not get over the troubles they learned to live with it
and thisisrubbing salt into fresh wounds
Looks like both ends of Clonliffe Road are going to have protests against the brit princess attending the rugby. According to their website éirígí are moving their long-standing protest from the brit embassy to the Ballybough end of the road. I hope the princess has thought of another route into the Hogan Stand. They too are gathering up at 3.30pm. It should all bring more people onto the streets. The more the merrier I say!
More details on their site.
Hi Decisions, Decisions !
Clonliffe Road is big enough to accommodate all of us .
Except the Windsors...
;-)
Thanks!
Sharon.
Anne Windsor was the Colonel-in-Chief of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment of the British Crown Forces (29th/45th Foot) until it became the 2nd Battalion of the Mercian Regiment (Worcesters and Foresters) last August. In 1916, the 178 (Forester) Brigade was sent to
Dublin in an attempt to suppress the Easter Rising. The same women is presently associated with British political and military imperialism by virtue of the following positions which she holds :
* Colonel-in-Chief, The King’s Royal Hussars
* Colonel-in-Chief, The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment (29/45 Foot)
* Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Corps of Signals
* Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Logistic Corps
* Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Army Veterinary Corps
* Commandant-in-Chief, The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (Princess Royal’s Volunteer Corps)
* Colonel, The Blues and Royals
* Royal Colonel, The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland
* Royal Colonel, The 52nd Lowland Regiment, 6th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland
* Rear Admiral and Chief Commandant for women, Royal Navy
* Honorary Air Commodore, RAF Lyneham
* Honorary Air Commodore, University of London Air Squadron
* Royal Honorary Colonel, University of London OTC
* Commodore-in-Chief, Portsmouth.
A protest organised by Republican Sinn Fein Poblachtach against the visit of this member of the British 'royalty' will be held on Saturday February 23rd . Those attending the picket are asked to assemble opposite Quinns Pub , at the entrance to Clonliffe Road , at 3.30PM .
Thanks!
Sharon.
"No Welcome For Royals" : RSF Protest Sat 23/2/08.
"The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment " no longer exists. Like a lot of RSF info, it seems to belong in the past.
Hi 'Orange Suit' !
You were in such a hurry to 'have a go' that you obviously never bothered to read the full post - for , if you had , you would have read the following as part of the introduction :
"Anne Windsor was the Colonel-in-Chief of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment of the British Crown Forces (29th/45th Foot) until it became the 2nd Battalion of the Mercian Regiment (Worcesters and Foresters) last August."
"Like a lot of RSF info, it seems to belong in the past."
"the past" , you say . And there's you not even aware of what was said in my last post !
Thanks!
Sharon.
Yeah. Given her ties to an army that was responsible for the deaths of many innocent Irish people this Woman would be as welcome in Dublin as...as....well as RSF would be in Omagh.
Hi Baz !
The British Army is not only " responsible for the deaths of many innocent Irish people " , Baz - they 'kept the peace' in many an 'adventure' in 56 countries , so lets not be so parochial !
Also - RSF has a very politically active North-West Comhairle Ceantair operating in the Donegal , Derry and Tyrone area : I think it's the Seán Sabhat Cumann of RSF which are based in Omagh, Co Tyrone , but I could be mistaken .
If it wasn't so early on a Saturday morning as I write this , sure I'd nearly give them a ring on your behalf to enquire....
Thanks!
Sharon.
I recently attended the funeral rites of one of Ireland's first gay-rights activists. The Mass was con-celebrated by three priests and the homilies were given by a number of the great and good of the Irish gay-rights movement.
The following week I listened to the radio commentary of the Ireland-Italy rugby match and heard references to the supporters in the Hogan Stand.
Ireland and the Irish have come a long way.
All except the RSF and its tiny remaining band of fellow-travellers.
Hi Aristotle !
What has gay rights and radio commentary of a sporting occasion got to do with this anti-'royal' picket ?
'Ireland and the Irish' might go even further , Aristotle , had we not got the remnant of an 'empire' maintaining its partition of this isle .
Thanks!
Sharon.
For those intrested Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, is spending her day at Kilronan Stud just South of Dublin Airport on the Old Swords Road. She will be there all day befor leaving for Croke Park.

HRH Princess Anne is spending the day handing out medals and trophies to the horsey set.
Hi !
The RSF-organised picket at Croke Park , to highlight the presence of Anne Windsor in that venue , went ahead today , mostly as planned , and was attended by about fifty republicans , over its almost two-hour course .
Special Branch presence was , as expected , fairly heavy , as was that of the uniformed members, but that didn't deter passers-by from signalling their support for the protesting republicans .
Thousands of people were made aware of the republican position regarding the connection between Anne Windsor and those that continue to interfere , politically and militarily , with the jurisdictional entitlements of this island.
Four photographs of the picket are published with this brief report , and more words and three photographs can be viewed here -
http://11sixtynine.blogsome.com/2008/02/23/anti-royal-c...3208/
- with more text and four other photographs available at the 'Related Link' below .
A full report and different photographs of the event will be published in the March 2008 edition of 'Saoirse' , which will be available on the fifth of that month .
Thanks!
Sharon.

A horsey guard for the horsey set !
Well iwas at the rugby today and what a great win it was in the end, i saw a few so called Irish patriots handing out leaflets woopy dooo.
When will they learn that through poltics ,that then we shall be free.
Any way great game and lets beat the English at Twicenham ,i bet sharon is not there demonstrating.
Ahh t b sure its safe in wee Ireland.
Sean Mc D.
Yet again RSF talks about a great protest etc, but once again the whole world knows the truth.
If i am right about 70,000 attended the game, over 1 million people live in Dublin, and RSF could muster a few dozen (I'm being generous here). Says it all really. Then they talk about how good the reaction was from those going into the groud. Sorry, but I heard no jeers for Anne Windsor from the 70,000 in the ground.
Once again RSF show their relevance to modern Ireland.
PS Sharon, don't bother to answer because we all know what you'll say. "Attack, aggression, republic, British Army, you weren't there blah blah blah.." Just look at your own pictures. You lot are a non-entity.
Hi 'Seán' !
Over 800 leaflets were distributed , dozens of copies of the 'Saoirse' republican newspaper were sold and new contacts were made - and the message that Irish republicans will not accept the presence of British 'royalty' on Irish soil (due to the on-going Six County situation) was successfully delivered to thousands of people .
" woopy dooo" yourself , 'Seán' - the organisers succeeded in pointing out that "through politics" (ie by demanding the withdrawal of Westminsters political claim of jurisdiction) "we shall be free" of British political and military interference on this isle.
Also , wouldn't you agree that it would be much 'safer in wee Ireland' if the potential for conflict - the British jurisdictional claim - was removed ?
And why do you think I should protest at 'Twicenham' ? Did those pink 'dinosoaures' which you apparently spoke to at ten to one in the morning - after a few hours in the pub , following the match , if the state of your post is any yardstick - tell you that 'Sharon should go to twicenham' ?
Anyway - glad you enjoyed the game , 'cause I certainly enjoyed the time I spent at Croke Park yesterday !
Hi Micheart !
Hope you don't mind me replying to your post , but I'm funny like that : you know , trying to speak up for myself and that which I believe in . You've no sisters , have you....
As explained above , the protest was successful , as the organisers achieved that which they set-out to achieve. And I doubt very much whether "the whole world" even knew that that particular rugby match was taking place , never mind that a protest against British 'royalty' was being held at it ! Are you friendly with the above-mentioned pink 'dinosoaures' , by any chance...?
RSF got enough of a turn-out to get their point across , which was their intention : a successful result. And , for the most part , there was very little objection voiced from the passers-by. Actually , the Special Branch fulfilled that role more so than anyone else in the vicinity.
And please note that not once did I use the following words : "Attack, aggression, republic, British Army, you weren't there blah blah blah.."
Not bad for a "non-entity" , eh ?
;-)
Thanks!
Sharon.
Sixty people on a demo from a city of one million not much to crow about is it !
1 man can make a diffrence
what does that say when their is 50
well done to all who tookpartin both protests
Hi 'Tea Rag' !
If RSF had put one hundred on the street , you may bet someone like yourself would
attempt to have a go over there not being even more present !
As stated (above) - " ...the protest was successful , as the organisers achieved that which they set-out to achieve."
And to report on the protest , and post a few photographs , is hardly to "crow" about it , is it ?
I agree with 'lyncher' -
" 1 man (or woman !) can make a diffrence. what does that say when their is 50. well done to all who took part in both protests ."
Thanks!
Sharon.

I would say that what is correct is not weighed in popularity at any given time, The claim of no jeers say more about the pathetic nature of 70 thousand than the dozens of irish men and women -young and old -who took a stand for their nation including the 70 thousand inside who take their guide for life from HELLO magazine. Some of us are thankful there is an RSF.
Hi Trevor !
Many thanks for your post - much appreciated !
I experienced a taste of Micheart's "modern Ireland" twice during the two hour picket at Croke Park : I was one of the RSF team that was asked to 'work' the footpath on the opposite side of the road to where the picket was being held - we were asked to distribute a couple of hundred leaflets to the crowd .
On both occasions , a group of men and women smelling strongly of drink surrounded me and attempted to intimidate me after they had read one of the leaflets - amongst other things , I was called "a stupid bitch" and a "political retard" . And this - and worse - with that persons face pushed right up to mine.
I am not suggesting that all of those who were going to the match or , indeed , all of those who objected to my presence , had drink on them - it was just my misfortune to bump into two groups that had been drinking .
I was minded then - and still am - of a quote from Oscar Wilde :
" After the first glass , you see things as you wish they were . After the second , you see things as they are not . Finally , you see things as they really are , and that is the most horrible thing in the world . "
Thanks again , Trevor .
Sharon.
Good to see RSF out in force all 12 of them, another good photo op for the branch.
Although some to rather look a bit tuggish.
I am always amazed at Republicans fascination of various BA Regiments.
As for Annie Windsor, her correct tittle (for future reference) is The Princess Anne, Princess Royal or Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.
Hi 'Commander Pot' !
Next time lay off the weed before you try counting , 'Commander' - it will help with your vision . Even if only physically !
And the branch always "look a bit tuggish" , if you ask me . Why , you would want to be puffing something other than ordinary tobacco to even think otherwise!
And that womens name is 'Anne' Windsor . But what's a "tittle" ?
I only ask for 'future reference' .....
Thanks!
Sharon.
Hi Sharon
Before criticising the literary skills of other people, you might want to think about brushing up on your own.
E.g. “difference” not “diffrence",
"Signaling" not “signalling”,
Oh yes, and you might want to exercise more care in how you apply your punctuation.
Thanks!
Justin
Hi Justin !
It's just as well that you didn't give your surname , Justin - spare your blushes . For now!
The word 'difference' that appeared in my above post was a copy and paste by me of a comment made by another poster ('lyncher') - in your rush to have a go at me you never noticed that !
And both spellings of the word 'signalling/signaling' are commonly used and usually deemed acceptable , as with , for instance , 'color/colour' . And what's wrong with my punctuation younastylittlenitpickeryou (!)
By.the.way.have.you.no.comment.on.the.protest. itself?
Thanks!
Sharon.
This whole puerile debate has about as much relevance as the pathetic leaflets handed out. When are you people going to move on, the world is a very different place now, especially in Northern Ireland. Who would have thought Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness would be sitting side by side at the helm of a new executive? Surely that is more noteworthy than a visit from the patron of the SRU?
About time you all moved on.
its still a relevant issue
thought a true scotsman would know that?
the leaflets placards and banner and so on that rsf had with them that day were exactly right for the job they were doing
fair play to them for making the protest they did
Brian Leeson from éirígí was on Seoige and O'Shea on Wednesday talking about the prospect of the Brit Queen visiting. Link to it below.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k-nbTv2A3w
Hi 'True Scotsman' !
The leaflets - over 800 of them - were well-received by most on the day , and they helped to get the message across . I think we can only satisfactorily "move on" when Westminster moves out - and the sooner the better !
Re the 'Chuckle Brothers' : that was practically forecast 22 years ago ; where have you been ?
Hi Luke !
Thanks for the comment , Luke - much appreciated !
Hi Grainne ni Seoige !
Brian done well - the 'other' Gráinne was quick to interrupt him , I thought . A bit too quick : perhaps she's after a front-row seat at the 'celebrations' ?
Thanks!
Sharon.
