3 little mafia news items not really getting attention in the Irish Commercial Press to put everything in perspective for you as to the quality and depth of our "liberal democratic system" this May 3rd which as we all know is "World Press Freedom Day". _______________________________________________________________________________ |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4You might have noticed, but one thing which caught my eye in the last hour, is the decision by Sergio Gabrielli the chief executive of Petrobas the largest oil&gas company in Brazil http://www2.petrobras.com.br/portugues/index.asp to reject any increase in the price paid for Bolivian gas. This is the late night (local time) reaction to the 4 state "energy conference" held today at the invitation of Kirchner. (c/f http://www.indymedia.ie/article/75832#comment148054 )
SweetyCandy!
he just upped his stock value in the last week with the historic news that Brazil can be self-sufficient on petrol.
Both gas and petrol are great. You can do loads of Mafia stuff with petrol and gas, & they've shown you how in most Hollywood movies. Sergio Gabrielli is going to flex his muscles tomorrow by telling his towerblocks of lawyers to sue the Bolivians for not giving him 180 days evicition notice. This is because they sent the riot cops and army round to his offices and kicked out his employees. its as fucking surreal as an Erse writer Of course anyone of us who has been kicked out of anywhere by riot cops and army, only to see them hoist a banner and flag, would love the legal aid.
I need not worry ye with the Bolivian lawsuits from the mafia, but I would like to worry you with the future of Brazil. Less of the tack to Hugo and more tack Chilewards please. Gallepagas bound, we'll catch a reptile yet
This is the 3rd time in the history of the Bolivian state that Gas has been nationalised.
The rest of the time the Mafia owned it.
the serious update data that gets around the editorial
Berlusconi's tower blocks lawyers have managed to stop the regional government of Sardinia entering his bunker.
we learn every time.
The mafia killed Jesus.
You have a right to waffle.
Šiosaf mac diarmada (this comment & article above. giggle)
today's "Observer" (the sunday version of the english "Guardian") reports on the continued wranggling to get into the Berlusconi bunker.

This is quite worrying. Since 2006 began several key stories, not just of protest actions, but of high level international scandals, seem to be "kept under local wraps". Clearstream has featured constantly in French media over the last months and the plot is definitely thickening, De Villepin declaring he was subject of a "witch-hunt", Sarkozy moving to an "entente" (forgive the bad pun) with his former rival, & one would expect this merited a little coverage in anglo-saxon commercial media.
for a variety of bad reasons :-
1) anglo-saxons don't like the french, & a financial scandal including trillions of dollars is juicy.
2) there is an Osama link.
3) they don't really report anything else.
Of course we naive types would want to see such things reported for good reasons :-
a)) it underlines the illegitimacy of a very bad government in France, one which has seen a complete year of unrest and the largest street mobilisations in Europe this century. We naively believe in people power.
b)) its about the mafia, and our newspapers should tell us about the mafia.
The general who started the whole French edition of Clearstream (see article above) was in the begining a "really heavy weight dude". He served with both internal and external French secret services and got the prefix "respected" in all the newspaper articles, even the wikipedia biography.
hmmmmmm................................. you know you're heading for shite when they write about a scandal and constantly put the prefix "respected" in front of your name.
The cops / "les flics" haev just gone round his house.............. but he wasn't there...........

Now just before you go thinking this sort of "omission" only works your way -
i.e. the anglo-saxon press (&/or) Irish commercial press don't report corruption and abuse of power and privelage in Europe to you in Ireland.............. relax !!!!
Continental Europeans don't read diddly eye shite about you either.
No poor mister Haughey and the prostate, No Mc dowell or Cromwell and the protestant cathedral and the afghanis. No mention of any of it. If you want to get into continental news you have to join the IRA. or the RIRA ......... or the CIRA or U2 .(most of those previous options will only be newsworthy if they include cigarette smuggling) Sorry Mr Garland, but the OIRA has past its time.....
If it wasn't for indymedia - we would not have a European news-service.
Whatever you think of his politics, one thing that we must all agree on is the depth of Spanish Balthozar's Garzon's judger instinct. Not content with being the star state prosecutor, so much so that he personifies the judiciary - & has lectured the USA's combined security services (at his own request) for 18 months on "how to secure terrorist convictions". He was the man who masterminded the illegalisation of HB in the Basque with literally thousands of boxes of evidence. & of course he was the man who did Pinochet whilst on holidays with Thatcher.
Well anyway, the star & much feared judger of Spain & Europe & the western civilisation has re-opened a case from the early 90's indicting Berlusconi for corrupt business practises relating to both his own family firm in Italy but also the most popular (& popularist) Spanish commercial tv station "TV5".
What this means basically is that Berlusconi can not only give up on spanish state holidays but be careful not to turn up in Latin America either, coz ZP (at Garzon's suggestion) just signed agreements with all of them.
it would be nice to see Silvio do time in a spanish jail.
