Or to be more precise - against animal abuse in circuses This weekend Galway was visited by two circuses, both using animals in their shows, so we decided to do some actions against it. Few days before their arrival flyers about the pickets were spread on alternative gigs and in places that we hoped to get in touch with other animal rights activists, but as we were gathering at our meeting point it was already obvious that there was nobody more than our friends, so we ended up with 5 to 7 people protesting (depending on day and houre of the show) in which we had; Poles, French and New Zealand but no Irish. |

"Together there were 6 polish, 4 french and one new zealand activist – where were the irish ones?"
Greg, did you advertise or get in touch with Irish activists? Is it a competition you're involved in or a social struggle?
Did you come to Ireland to fight or to pat yourself on the back? We dont missionaries we need comrades.
Lose the attitude.
Well done guys and we are glad to know there is more working on this campaign in Galway. Please attend our campaign meeting this sunday in Galway at 6pm - email us for more details [email protected]
Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN)
the friends living at place handed out loads of leflets on gig('s?) contacted with PETA and so on - we hoped to at least meet other people also doing protests separetly from us
i dont want competition, i'm pointing out the fact that the only people that had organized anything work for not really more then minimal wages for 9 to 10h a day, and as far as i knowe there are loads of students around, few animal rights oganisations and so on, which (besides the galway local one which sended a inspector) didnt bother to do anything
ok, I'v just learned that a local group has done an action and so I would like to apologise for what i wrote about the local activists
Well done Greg and we are now happy that you are in touch with ARAN - here is some pictures of a billboard we organized and promoted on a tour or Northern and Southern Ireland - we hope you like it as Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN) work's all over Ireland.
All the best

Hi,
just popped on and saw comments about protests in galway. I live in Tuam and have been lookin for ways to get more involved for a while now, with no luck!!
Could someone from Galway who is involved with protests and know whats going on please contact me??? I keep finding out about things after they have happened, which is a bit frustrating!
Thanks!
Great work! Keep it up. I see one of the psycho circus drivers didnt control a traler properly and it killed two people. RIP.

Just a question. What animals were being used by these circuses and what conditions were they being kept in?
I do understand your opposition to all use of animals in circuses and wholeheartedly agree in the case of tamed wild animals such as elephants or Big Cats. I'm just asking if you know what animals are being used here [there are none in the photos].
well the circus posters says "tons of elephants" and theres an image of a kangaroo on the side of the tent.
