Today the left wing italian press is scathing of this _second time_ he has circumvented parliament to make such an announcement and one his office have now recinded in the last five hours.

I'd like to remind readers that this is not *news.*
The italians (Mr Berlusconi) announced a withdrawl in March in the immediate aftermath of the release of Giuliana Sgrena a journalist who had been kidnapped in Iraq.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4323361.stm
When she was released the italian secret service man charged with getting her out Nicolo Calipari was shot by US soldiers as he covered her with his body.
http://www.rainews24.it/Notizia.asp?NewsID=52875
Berlusconi then made the announcement of withdrawl directly to the TV stations, and thus it had no official weight, to be official it had to be made in the parliament. & was an example of his sordid political style. As he tried to paper of the "anti-americanism" at home.

The article above has no link, no source, and thus readers I'd say to ye "nothing new". Other members of the occupation coalition who have mooted leaving include Bulgaria, that same week they became very vocal about "friendly fire", but at end it was about domestic political management of emotions.
The wikipedia file gives you everything you need to know-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicola_Calipari
and the first mention here (imc ireland) -

Excuse me “IOSAF” but it IS news that Berlusconi has announced the end of Italy's illegal military joint-occupation of Iraq in response to the threat his country vividly faces, as outlined by the London explosions.
It is also news that the Establishment, like yourself, is vehemently denying this reality to the public. You are also again attempting to delude readers here with the links you give. None of these links show or make reference to a previous announcement by Berlusconi concerning the withdrawal of Italian troops and intelligence agents from Iraq. Are you hoping nobody will check out these links or that those who do will not be able to read Italian? I should say “nice try” but must say “ pathetic try”.
Berlusconis' decision was announced for the first time at Gleneagles this Friday July 9th as the full extent of the threat facing Italy became clear. In fact one link to a site an Italian you give, clearly states this and makes no mention of a amendment in the “last five hours” as you claim it does.
The other links you give say nothing of a previous announcement by Berlusconi to withdraw Italian forces after the shooting of the Secret Service man and Sgrena, which you claim they do . In fact one of the links you give even tells how Berlusconi “ has said the Italian government is happy with the (US Army) investigation into the shooting.”
So “IOSAF”, it is indeed news that once again Al Qaeda has forced the hand of yet another European government. Berlusconi is pulling his troops out because he cannot prevent massive attacks in Italy which will do him no good because people, as in England (when their stiff upper lips thaw out) will know that the attacks are as a direct result of their assistance in the illegal murderous invasion of Iraq.
It is also NEWS that this character “IOSAF” of someone impersonating it is playing a support role to British/US and Zionist propaganda in trying to play down the significance and timing of Berlusconis announcement. Would you expect to find such outright right-wing propaganda on this site?
It is also NEWS that RTE has chosen to ignore this very significant development. How many of the Sunday papers will ignore it too? They would sooner find an Irish victim to assure our empathy with our former imperial masters in their hour of grief. Playing with victims is right!

(The Globe and Mail requires you register but it is very quick. You need to use a Zip Number even if you tick Ireland . Hmmm! Try Zip code 27513 if you don't know US Zip codes)
but if you read the italian press like i did of both left and right instead of just yahoo news, and if you had watched the TV transcript of Berlusconi's withdrawl statement you would realise that he himself said
"this is not a new announcement"
and that it was withdrawn yesterday.
Now i left you a lot of links. I am aware that my stance on this is causing hackles to raise, but my stance is not "establishment closing ranks", it is a result of careful and consistent monitoring.
Please understand these London bombings for what they were, they weren't intended to influence elections, or else they would have come before the election.
I doubt they were even meant to affect the G8.
And Berlusconi behaves the same way all the time.
The article in Unita (the italian left wing daily) I left you in the comment is headlined "berlusconi plays propaganda with Iraq"
http://www.unita.it/index.asp?SEZIONE_COD=ARKINT&TOPIC_TIPO=I&TOPIC_ID=43566
He has made the same statement twice at emotional times, with the same validity- none!
He can not order a withdrawl on television, Hilal,
and he is a television owner, don't you get it?
The man is a sordid piece of work.
The withdrawl of 300 troops is being spun for a home audience. You presented it after a report was published on the television appearance on indymedia uk
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/07/317574.html
Do you know how many Italian troops are in Iraq?
