Brother Robert Marleye corpse shall .:. rest .:. in Ethiopia

Rita Marley the widow of singer and songwriter,
spokesman of his nation, thorn in the side of rightous evil, musician, dancer, genius Bob Marley

has agreed that the final mortal remains of her dead husband who died in 1981 from cancer may be returned to Ethiopia, which was and is his spiritual home.
the Lion of Judah.
the Lion of Judah.

His 60th birthday will be celebrated in Jamaica, the Carribean, Africa, London, England, and wherever the children of the rasta-man still know their roots.

"we are all children of the rasta man".

The celebrations of his life which will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia "will include many events such as musical concerts by famous black musicians, art exhibitions and symposia of PanAfricanism and relations between Africa and the diaspora," according to the African Union. Which held its meetings this week to work to end corruption, to end the problems of frontiers, to do the work, to be helped by the those who wish to help them...

to unite.

Read his lyrics.
Listen to his music.
Play it (it's easy) that was his wisdom.

(To qoute just one song would be ridiculous.)

"we are all children of the rasta man". Typical. No mention of the lousy treatment Rastaman accords to women. Fundamental Islamists and Rastas are cut from the same cloth. And Bob Marley helps further this oppression...

"We are all children of the Rastaman"
means what it means.
we are all descendents of the same man and woman before the cup before the tea, and they were dredded like lions for it was before the hairbrush as well.

and chat about the direction of the AU in the next few years. Its very difficult for them. On the agenda for the meeting which started yesterday and wraps up now were such issues as eliminating customs charges between member states, improving food security on the continent, widening gender equality iniatives,

Harmonization of Customs Tariffs between its Members in dealing with the rest of the World and the Creation of a Post of a Minister of Foreign Trade,

Unification of Transportation in the States of the AU to be under the competence of the African Union and Creation of a Post of the AU Minister of Transport,

creation of a AU defence minister,

Creation of a Post of AU Minister of Foreign Affairs,

Development of an African Policy on the Supply of Items to Peace Keeping Operations in Africa (Item proposed by the Federal Republic of Nigeria)

Consideration of an interim Situational Report on (Social):
a) HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria and other
Related infectious Diseases
b) Polio Eradication

They can make these declarations and new laws, but they can't make the soldiers and police on their borders obey them. And therein a big problem for real Africans. Which is the problem of corruption and security. But they're saying the right things. (africa unite!)

They listened to Kofi Anan of the UN
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4220447.stm

and the chairperson H.E. Mr.Prof. Alpha Oumar Konare.

They also listened to their new anthem.
The words are -

Let us all unite and celebrate together
The victories won for our liberation
Let us dedicate ourselves to rise together
To defend our liberty and unity

O Sons and Daughters of Africa
Flesh of the Sun and Flesh of the Sky
Let us make Africa the Tree of Life

Let us all unite and sing together
To uphold the bonds that frame our destiny
Let us dedicate ourselves to fight together
For lasting peace and justice on earth

O Sons and Daughters of Africa
Flesh of the Sun and Flesh of the Sky
Let us make Africa the Tree of Life

Let us all unite and toil together
To give the best we have to Africa
The cradle of mankind and fount of culture
Our pride and hope at break of dawn.

O Sons and Daughters of Africa
Flesh of the Sun and Flesh of the Sky
Let us make Africa the Tree of Life

the 53 member states hold 53 votes at the UN.
(which is very fair)
They will ask for more military assistance in things like Darfur.
They will ask for more money for things like starving children. 30,000 kids die a day due to poverty in Africa.
Since the MPH concert 90,000 kids have died.

They will also vote on several other issues-

*The Danger of Imported Seeds in the African Continent (Item proposed by the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya)
{biotech}

*Recognition of the Drepanocytosis as a priority for public health by the next Session of the World Health Assembly (Item proposed by the Republic of Senegal and the Republic of Congo)
{health}

*The Establishment of a Pan-African Television Channel that expresses the common aspirations of the African peoples. (Item proposed by the Arab Republic of Egypt)
{media an attempt to copy Chavez & lulu and build a new pan-african culture}

*The Establishment of the African Centre for Infectious and Endemic Diseases and HIV/AIDS (Item proposed by the Arab Republic of Egypt)
{health complete with arguments on their right to breach patents}

In addition they have just finished discussing a report on the situation of "returnees", refugees and displaced persons.
{migrants to us}

Reuters report:-
the AU at its half-yearly summit on July 4-5 will target wars as the key barrier to growth on a continent that has seen 186 coups d'etat and 26 major conflicts in the past half century.

"The message is simple. The message is that the G8 should cancel the debts of all African countries," said Charles Murigande, Rwanda's foreign minister.

"They should also increase the resources that are there to the African continent because ... these wealthy countries committed themselves 30 years ago to give development assistance up to the level of 0.7 percent (of their GDP).

"This was a commitment taken 30 years ago and up to now very few of them have reached that level. So the message would be also reach that level and if possible go beyond."

Others called for debt relief.

"(We want) first of all the cancellation of debts, " said Arab League head Amr Moussa, whose organization represents almost a fifth of the AU's member states.

"Second, a rich package to invest in and finance projects of development, not only economic but also social dealing with poverty, AIDS and the failure of the social policies."
