Many Arab writers fear that warnings about an Iraqi civil war along sectarian lines lends further justification for the occupation.
"Arab editorial pages have also voiced skepticism that Al-Qaeda is orchestrating the attacks in Iraq. The basis of these claims is a captured letter believed to have been written by a Jordanian agent of Al-Qaeda, Abu Mus?b al-Zarqawi, detailing his overall strategy in Iraq. In his March 3 op-ed for London's Palestinian expatriate Al-Quds al-Arabi, Bashir Musa Nafi.underscored that Al-Zarqawi is a convenient suspect because he permits the United States to link Al-Qaeda to Iraq and to exploit the `sectarian strife argument' because Al-Qaeda promotes a radical Sunni ideology. But, Nafi.reminded readers, Al-Qaeda, which has proudly claimed responsibility for a variety of controversial bombings throughout the Islamic world, denied any such responsibility for the March 2 attacks."
Remember the days when every time you hear an Iraqi talk on TV you had to remember that they are talking with a Mukhabarat minder looking at them noting every word? We are back to that place.
You have to be careful about what you say about al-Sadir. Their hands reach every where and you don't want to be on their shit list. Every body, even the GC is very careful how they formulate their sentences and how they describe Sadir's Militias. They are thugs, thugs thugs. There you have it.
I was listening to a representative of al-sadir on TV saying that the officers at police stations come to offer their help and swear allegiance. Habibi, if they don't they will get killed and their police station "liberated". Have we forgotten the threat al-Sadir issued that Iraqi security forces should not attack their revolutionary brothers, or they will have to suffer the consequences.
Dear US administration,
Welcome to the next level. Please don't act surprised and what sort of timing is that it: planning to go on a huge attack on the west of Iraq and provoking a group you know very well (I pray to god you knew) that they are trouble makers.
On one Iraqi bloger when I asked if he was Iraqi I had my IP address published ( http://iraqthemodel.blogspot.com). Another bloger refused to answer ( http://messopotamian.blogspot.com). And the third ( http://iraqataglance.blogspot.com ) welcomed me the next day on his comment sections with “Banned by webmaster. Your comments will not be added”. The day before this I had asked him this “And AYS can you please tell me what you did to convince some of your regular readers that you are an Iraqi IN Iraq reporting truthful news?
Some here seem to have a lot of difficulties even trusting CNN and BBC. When a news reports from CNN includes a viewed reporter, interviews with viewed Iraqis and a huge media company to back it’s a true media outlet. And they still say they do not believe it but somehow they believe an anonymous bloger? So how did you make them think you unknown person are telling them the truth that CNN and other western news are lying about?”
60 Iraqis Killed Overnight in Fallujah
At least 60 Iraqis killed and more than 120 wounded in overnight fighting in Fallujah, hospital officials said. U.S. warplanes opened fire on groups of Iraqis in the street. Among the 60 dead in the city, 26 people — including 16 children and up to eight women — were killed when warplanes struck four houses late Tuesday, said Hatem Samir, head of the clinic at Fallujah Hospital.
Looks like a massive war crime in in progress
"Falloojeh has been cut off from the rest of Iraq for the last three days. It's terrible. They've been bombing it constantly and there are dozens dead. Yesterday they said that the only functioning hospital in the city was hit by the Americans and there's no where to take the wounded except a meager clinic that can hold up to 10 patients at a time. There are over a hundred wounded and dying and there's nowhere to bury the dead because the Americans control the area surrounding the only graveyard in Falloojeh; the bodies are beginning to decompose in the April heat. The troops won't let anyone out of Falloojeh and they won't let anyone into it either- the people are going to go hungry in a matter of days because most of the fresh produce is brought from outside of the city. We've been trying to call a friend who lives there for three days and we can't contact him."

'And as I blog this, all the mosques, Sunni and Shi’a alike, are calling for Jihad...'
If anybody is printing T-Shirts to celebrate the Great Leader's visit here in June, might I suggest a possible logo
"Fallujah We Salute Ya !"
The Abdulaziz al-Samarai mosque along with the building of the Islamic Scholars' Association in Falluja has been bombed by the US invaders killing at least forty Iraqis sheltering inside.
Earlier today, before this desecration, all the city mosques called for a "jihad" against occupation forces . The bombing of the Abdulaziz al-Samarai mosque underlines this call.
Resistance fighters have shot down three US helicopters, destroyed two Humvees and two armoured vehicles in the Falluja area alone since last night . They have full control of Falluja and US forces are not even attempting to regain control of the centre of the town.
Demonstrations have now spread as far north as Kirkuk where US crusaders shot dead eight unarmed protestors this afternoon .
The US military have only confirmed one helicopter down near Baquba and one marine dead in Balad. Casualties in Falluja will be high and tens of thousands arm themselves and prepare to die or to kill the evil invaders.

And call the irish media if they start spinning a CPA Line: RTE 2083111 - ask for newsdesk or 5/7 live or whatever.
"All what we can hear from the coalition governments’ spokesmen, and from the international media news are some fake explanations and explanations…
Let me declare some points:
AsSadr is NOT reflecting a minority of Iraqis, this is a stupid big lie.
Whether we liked him or not, he is the political and religious leader for MILLIONS of Iraqis in the southern region…
There are 15 million Iraqis living in the south, and another 5 million in Baghdad, I can say that 5 to 7 millions of them can be considered as AsSadr followers.
AsSadr is NOT a mere twenty-something year old guy, that is playing games.
Whether we liked him or not, he is a phenomenon. When people in the south of Iraq look at Muqtada AsSadr, they see the history of his father, the deep roots of his religious supporter: AlHaeri.
AsSadr is NOT a small follower of the Iranian Government; he has very bad relations with the official government of Iran, unlike Sistani and Hakim.
AsSadr is THE GOVERNMENT in most of the cities of the south: Amara, Kut, Nasryya and Diwanyya and Simawa partially, and Najaf partially (Kufa is a small city in Najaf that is the center of AsSadr)."

Am I going Banannas or did I see some green and black flags in Dublin on last anti-war march. Have we a shia militia snuck into town for mayday?
Is that what all the troops are for.
;-)
The revenge of Falluja which has already killed 52 and likely to climb is still under way. It shows the depth of the depravity and hyprocrisy of those in power regarding their response to the killings earlier in the week.
While the 'Bush' or the 'US' may or may not be on the run as the coalition of the not-so-willing is apparently falling apart, either way it makes little difference to those in power because they never get hurt and at the very most (extreme) may lose their position in power.
Instead as usual it is just plain old ordinary people like ourselves who get slaughtered and have to cope with the incredible pain and destruction all around.
See related link for a small sample of the carnage now being inflicted by those in power.
As the song says: If white America told the truth for just one day its world would fall apart.
"The only position that makes sense for those who oppose the war is to demand the immediate withdrawal of all US and coalition forces from Iraq. To pretend that these troops are necessary to maintain order in the country is to deny the reality on the ground. There is no order in the country! Why? Because US troops are there. Furthermore, there won't be any order after June 30th either. This magical date of when sovereignty is "handed over" to the US puppet regime in Baghdad will change nothing. Paul Wolfowitz is on record as saying as much. On April 2nd, he told the media "There's not going to be any difference in our military posture on July 1st from what it is on June 30th, except that we will be there then at the invitation of a sovereign Iraqi government, which I am quite sure will want us to stay there until killers like the ones who perpetrated these atrocities in Falluja are brought under control."
Wolfowitz's comment about America staying until the killers in Fallujah are brought under control is kinda of ironic, ain't it?
Fuck it, its a building. Its no different than if they bomb a Church. The guys who ran in were Fighters, but of course Al Jazeera are gonna call em civvies as it makes it more depraved. Idlike to see actual photos from inside and prove beyondall shadow of a doubt that they were not armed. Olease remember that if the Iraqis had not mistreated the bodies of the American Civvies, then the Americans wouldnot be attacking like this. I am not saying America is right to do it, but please remember that when you are pissing on a rattlesnake you stop when its pissed on enough. You do not add more fuel to a fire. Also I don't see the Americans stringing up the bodies of these dead people. But I have heard reports that the some Coalition forces may have been kidnapped. Believe me if the Iraqis wanna stop this bullshit, they should release these guys and definitely should not kill em. The more depraved the Iraqis act the moredepraved America will feeel like acting and there is nothign the International Community can do about it.
The withdrawal of more Coalition troops is NOT what you should be applauding. Now its gonna be the Americans only and you know they do not have a great deal of respect for the Iraqis at the moment. If you wanna stop the slaughter, then you should be trying to get the UN in and get as many UN troops from Islamic countries aspossible in there. Its the only people that the Average Iraqis might accept.
This is the only way to prevent having to come back in 10 years time and doing it all over again. This is the only way to build a peaceful democratic Iraq - the demagogues must be stamped out, just as Hitler should have been stamped out in the beginning.
Shit happens. forget about it.
Human compassion is equal to human cruelty, and it is up to each of us to tip the balance - quote re. Justice by Alice Walker
What is happening in Iraq is unacceptable. It is up to people to take a stand and tip the balance.
I would suggest the following web site. It logs the cost of the war to date.......it is frightening and cannot be justified.

Ukranian troops have been thrown out of Kut, the Coalition Provisional Authority's headquarters, and are now taking refuge in the desert at what they are calling "base camp". Dozens of British private security contractors, managed to get away with their lives but a White Afrikaaner from South Africa was slaughtered .
Spanish troops have been thrown out of Najaf They are now taking refuge at what they are calling a "base camp" in the desert. Americans in Najaf are also confined to protecting their "base camp" outside the town. Iraqi police have fled and the Resistance are now occupying police positions and wearing the flak jackets given to the police by the Americans.
Falluja is fully under resistance control and several thousand US marines are unable to advance towards the centre. Five marines died in Falluja yesterday. One in Ramadi.
Five truckloads of Sunni Resistance fighters have arrived in Kufa to assist Shia Resistance there. Sunni and Shia are now uniting despite Americas attempts to forment sectarianism.
13 people had been killed and 20 wounded by American soldiers in Kirkuk . They were demonstrating against the dropping of two 500lb bombs on a mosque yesterday in Falluja.
In Nasiriyah a British Mercinary has been taken prisoner by resistance fighers. He has been named as Gary Teeley. He has been giving details of other "security contractors" , including Irish serving the queen and the little emperor in Iraq.
taht lnk jd put up say 34 allied troops have been kiledin the last few day
s is that right?
First, I'd like to say that bejamin is the only one here who has eloquently said what is so true. Keep on typing for all our sake. Second, the way the rest of you are reporting coalition casualties and failures, I'd swear you were rooting for them. But that couldn't be true, I mean after all Ireland IS civilised, right?
Maybe you like support any country as long as its not the USA? I'll tip a glass the day I hear of another attack in Europe. You Europeans need a wake-up call to teach you that the muslim fanaticists will never be appeased. I can only hope that some day Ireland will see the light of day again.
this is it writ large
what is happening in fallujah is collective punishment and against international law
Bodies everywhere, hundreds dead
yes i'm rooting for the iraqis
just like 60s and 70s protesters eventually began flying the viet cong flag
us administration is out of control
Daren is clearly having a laugh here. George Bush is the appeaser-in-chief. Contrary to popular ignorant belief, Al Qaida are not insane, though their methods might be despicable. They have clearly stated political objectives, one of which was the removal of US forces from the US-backed dictatorship of Saudi Arabia. On April 29th 2003 George Bush caved in to this demand. The vast bulk of US troops were moved from Saudi to another US-backed dictatorship - Qatar.
More info: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/04/27/iraq/main551262.shtml
The basis of Al Qaida's grievance with the US and its neo-colonialist poodle-states is constant Western interference in Arab/Muslim countries. By invading Afghanistan and Iraq Bush has effectively proved Osama's point - that the US has an obsession with controlling the Arab and Muslim peoples. Bush is Al Qaida's recruiter-in-chief.
As for Ireland being civilised or not - our freedom was obtained by force of arms against a foreign imperial power, just like the USA's freedom was. The US would do well to remember that. The Iraqis now face their moment of truth - do they live in a US colony, spied on and intimidated by US "private contractors" (modern-day mercenary Black and Tan scum) or do they free themselves from the grasp of the hyperpower?
I sincerely hope that the US is humiliated in Iraq and that the oppressed Arab and Muslim peoples in all US-backed dictatorships rise up and seize power. Colonialism -no matter how powerful the coloniser - cannot work: witness Hezbollah's victory in Lebanon over the vastly technologically, financially and numerically superior forces of the US-financed colonial Israeli forces.
Victory to the Iraqi national liberation movement!
Humiliation and defeat for the Korrupt Krusading Kolonial Koalition, their mercenary minions and Iraqi collaborators!
Sooner or later, in desperation, Bush will surely order the destruction of wide swaths -- inhabited by "bad guys" -- of Iraqi cities in response to the undefeatable Shia and Sunni uprisings against the occupation. It is inevitable. Like Sharon and the Likudites, Bush's ideological mentors, the US military will eventually repeat the atrocities and violations of human rights and international law the Israelis eagerly committed in the Jenin refugee camp in September of 2000. Civilians always pay the price for any "up tick" in support for the resistance -- be they Palestinians, Chechnians, or Iraqis.
They'll think twice before they attack America gain. An eye for an eye..
more like take these poor tired huddled masses and lets club them to death and get it over with and dump them on the global superhighway
I think you find that US support for scummy dictatorships (including Saddam) and extremists has been ongoing for decades. The US started the interference, preventing Arabs and Muslims from deciding their own future. The US supported extremist Wahabis like Osama when it suited them (ie in the US proxy war with the Soviets in Afghanistan).
It's no surprise that a tiny minority of the planet's billion Muslims choose to target civilians in the countries of their oppressors. If you treat people like shit they'll eventually fight back. America's idiocy has come back to bite it in the ass.
Al Qaida terror has nothing to do with the wish of the Iraqi people to throw off the yoke of US subjugation.
Long live free Iraq!
Victory to the Iraqi national liberation movement!
Defeat for the US imperial forces and their black-and-tan mercenary lackies.
