Another alarmist climate scare story bites the dust as new findings published in Nature show no decline in the strength of the Gulf Stream since the 1960s. Seems the 'day after tomorrow' won't be freezing after all.

There has been interesting new developments in the Anti Bin Tax Campaign. About 100 protestors demonstated outside the Ballymount bin depot in the south Dublin County Council area this morning in response to the jailing of 6 residents yesterday. Showing their solidarity with the residents and support for the anti bin tax campaign, bin workers stated that they would not implement the Council's non collection policy and would be collecting all bins! The bin trucks were about to roll out of the depot and collect all bins, to the delight of residents, when Council management got wind of what was happening and locked the bin trucks in (!), insisting that trucks would not be allowed out unless the workers refused to collect the bins of those boycotting the bin tax. When the workers refused to do this, management took them off the payroll.

I was delighted to see the bin men have made a stance in all the bins or no bins !!!
I was down in Ballymount this morning and did feel under pressure when 2 (yes 2 lone Gardai ) decided they were going to arrest us all, Fair play to several staunch supporters this did not happen, also to the few people who could not take part as they have had their knuckles slapped already you have done your part and now we know we can do it when we have a large group of bodies.

Keep up the barrage !!!!

Not a lot of people know this (Michael)but the Dublin Regional Executive Committee of SIPTU, at it's September meeting, resolved that the Union should defend the security of employment of members who acted in conscience (i.e. collected all bins)on ths issue.

The Motion was proposed by yours truely (the real bins candidate) and seconded by Christy Gleeson of the Local Authorities Branch. It was passed unanimously. So if these South Co. Co. workers are SIPTU members they should be having a word with the Union.
