No War For Oil - Us and British Troops Out of the Gulf THE RIGHT-WING cabal surrounding George Bush in the White House are determined to go to war with or without United Nations backing. Tony Blair is also determined to be in on the act. Take away the political window dressing, the recent statements by both leaders, particularly Bush's warmongering State of the Union Address, make their intentions clear.
ON 15 February, the international day of protest against the war, we witnessed the biggest anti war demonstrations in history. Globally, it was the biggest anti war manifestation since the international protests organised by the Labour and Social Democratic parties in the run up to the First World War. How about US and British troops out of Ireland. This is possible. Getting them out of the Gulf is more difficult. But we should start where we can have some influence. Like right here in Ireland. North and South. Is this too difficult to grasp? Or are your minds hopelessly colonized? Perhaps a movement to de-colonize the Irish mind is necessary. Fighting revolutions thousands of miles away is easy. But its only posturing.
Tony, the sp is organised in ireland north and south and not only interested in problems "thousands of miles away" but in this globalised world it is important to think internationaly. Just like feb 15th showed. If we had the marches on at different times they wouldn't have had even close to the same impact. Now more than ever we have to think internationally at the same time as locally. And you don't get much more local than water and bin charges! As for NI we are organised up there too and have well publisised positions (i don't want to start another fight here, they are well known and have been debated) go to our website for more.
The Sparts gave out a leaflet on the 15/2 March which called the SP - HER MAJESTYS SOCIALISTS.
