'Eco-anxiety' affects 78% of children under 12, a crisis that teachers say they are unable to cope with, new polling by Greenpeace has found. The solution? More ruthless exposure of children to alarmist material.

so what was Jeb bush 3 like?

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Thursday February 20, 2003 12:29author by ipsiphiauthor address barcelona Report this post to the editors

the governer of Florida came to see Spain.

He arrived with 80 pals to invest in the Spanish economy discuss Cuba, Oil, and big brother.

He had begun on the wrong foot though. He had greeted JoseMaria Aznar President of the centralised governemnt of Spain (which is Juan Carlos Bourbó´s kingdom) as President of the Republic. The Spanish Republic of course ended in Barcelona on the 20th of November the day Franco entered that city and most bloodily ended the Spanish civil war.

So last night Jeb Bush (3) came to BCN. A small crowd of between a hundred and a hundred and fifty gathered at 8pm at Placa St. Jaume to greet him.

It was freezing cold, lashing rain, (today I am completely congested). A representative group was had with Nunca Mais, the Old city (inner city) "Auturem la Guerra" commitee and members of the Socialist/Green 4 party alliance. One man had brought a flag of the Spanish Republic and we chanted "Republika Sí Guerra No" for a while.
When the US leader cavalcade arrived we pushed forward and chanted "res-is-ten-cia" which is a four sylabic combination and verily puts the wind up them I can tell you.

This was lots of fun. We have been a bit upset over the last weekend by bigger than normal demonstrations and it was nice to see that once a member of the Bush Family actually turned up in the city, only a small group would go out and greet him. That is exactly as it should be. Dont want all those activiated millions what was it? 1.3million? clogging up the chanting of "res-is-ten-cia" now do we?
Nope you cant work with those types of numbers.

Last night was back to normal. The Police could outnumber us and the media circus could equal us. Protest as it ought be. I can not report what Mr Jeb Bush (Bush3) looks like, as he was rushed into the Governmental building at high speed amidst a cavalcade of police and what appeared to me to be larger than normal type security men with perfect teeth and hightech earpieces.

"El Hermanito" [the little brother] today will continue his visit to Spain and "eff off" somewhere else outside of Catalonia almost home to the 3rd republik.
The Spanish media has begun debating the "3rd republik" since our display and his gaffe and well thats very nice.

I must go teach communciation skills to a bunch of very loyal supporters of the crown this afternoon, and I suppose that will be interesting as I have just been televised screaming republikan slogans at the Government and it´s esteemed guest.

I shall not however worry the readers of IMC ireland with this.

Florida seemingly has much to offer Madrid (less for Catalonia according to todays analysis of the business on offer). Florida is the gateway to the USA from Cuba and the caribean and it seems Madrid is most worried about all the poor people who want to get to Miami. Madrid it seems wants to help the USA be a fortress. Jolly good for Madrid. And now an interesting "facty".

Aznar has spent more time in the company of the Bushes than any other Western Leader this year. More than Blair. Much more than Chirac. On Saturday next Mr Aznar will go to the Bush ranch the day after Jeb Bush 3 goes home.

Whilst Mr Aznar is away we are inviting everyone who can scream, dance, tell a story or saddle a horse to go to Madrid for

NUNCA MAIS Feb. 23rd. 2003

because we mean it.

"res-ist-enc-ia"...is how we put it.

ya basta! is what it means.
no pasaran! is what it sounds like.

Jeb is the smart one of the Bush Brothers. Neil got caught with his hand in the cookie jar with the Savings & Loan scandals of the 80's and George W is the hansome one.

James Baker, Dad and others in the US Repub Party decided they wanted to continue the Dynasty. They had been grooming both W and Jeb for years - taking the two crucial Southern states' governorships, Texas and Florida.

Remember, in the US, states elect presidents, not voters - the 'electoral system' was originally designed to give Slave States more representation. The Original US Constitution declared Africans to be 3/5th human, thus giving Slave State more representation in the House of Representatives.

After the Civil War the 3/5th part was voided but the 'electoral system' stayed.

Anyway, the high populations in Fla and Tex make them powerful, in the electoral system - both controlled by the Bush family.

Jeb is the best politician of the all the Bros - he knows how to talk without bumbling, he is as rhetorically sophisticated as Clinton and knows how to play the race card without seeming so.

George W, on the other hand, is just an untraveled, drunken, coke snorting, whore-fucking frat boy, with a DUI and a military desertion on his (erased & hidden) record.

Amazing thing is, after impeaching Clinton for perjury about a blowjob, the US Repub Party ran the one guy who was most like Clinton.

Only, no where near as smart as Clinton. W is Clinton without the brains.

My original point, before I started ranting about the Bush Family, is that Jeb is the guy who would have been a better candidate and better politician.

I wouldn't have voted for him, nor agree with him on 98% of any issue - but Jeb should have been the 2000 Candidate and probably could have won, no coup required.

But Jeb is young, so wait. 2004 or 2008.

My gut feeling is that GW will drop out in 2004 and let his lil Bro take over.

Oh, one more thing, Those Texas Hillbillies are really from Connecticut. They may pretend they are from Texas (John Wayne antics and all) but they are really New England Blue Bloods with all the sense of ruling class entitlement that allows them to think the 2000 Coup was an act of God.

Jeb is in Florida till 2007.
The Democrats however have not offered any credibly opposition figure to Bush2. The Bush family belong to the same family tree as the British royal family, but so do loads of people.
I wrote yesterday on BCNindymedia that "two generations a dynasty do not make". & they do not.
Jeb has played a very good game as a politician, I actually gave serious thought to the "republic of spain" gaffe, it seemed so perfect as error to make. It meant that any protesters who turned up would naturally use "republika" as a slogan. We could not resist the temptation. And after considering the implications of "rumsfeld´s republic" over the last weeks, I am not convinced that this was not a deliberate "spin" aimed at provoking Catalan and Basque debate. They are both very busy formulating "external association" ideas. The Republic of Catalonia and the Republic of the Basques were we remember internal arrangements within the 2nd Republic of Spain.
Anyway the "radical" minority described by Fraga /(president of Galicia) as being behind every protest in Spain (from nunca mais to auterem la guerra) now this morning seems to be more "republican" in nature than before. That places us closer to the "dangerous to the state" status that has provoked Aznar´s attacks on Basque independence and seperatist organisations. Aznar has done more than merely illegalise HB/ETA he has moved with Garzón (state judge prosecutor) against all "non-loyal" elements within the Kingdom.
Fortuanately we are sharper than that, our nerves and wit and intelligence are not blunted by nightly suppers of meat and fish, wine and cake.
And so we did not last night shout anything that has been used by Garzón before to justify the penal code laws "against disrespect to the King/kingdom/state".
[That is illegal here] The most outstanding cases at the moment are against Catalan "independentists" and language enthusiasts for calling the King less than truthful last year when he said "Castilian Spanish has never been forced on anyone or a tool of oppression".

and/or does the disrespect have a clear definition (such as calling for him to be killed?).

it covers lots of things. and they start at much more basic conversation level than "calling for regicide".
It is illegal to criticise either person or office of the Crown. I can think of many examples off the top of my head but not the names. They arose from a speech made last year on language. I´ll search my clippings and try and write a "freedom of speech" thing on it. Spain is the only country I know of in Europe that inforces these types of law. But it is worth commenting that prosecution is made in the King´s name. We are not led to believe that he sits listing people to have a go at. That is done by Garzón.
It strikes me that this is a hangover from a former period in Spanish history. It seems symptomatic of a certain "insecurity" at the heart of the Constitution and "Nation state".
But then on the contrary to those who support this sort of thing, they call the King "the saviour of democracy" for his role on February 23rd 1981.
Readers may recall there was an attempted coup d´etat in Madrid. It makes sharp contrast with the UK where no charges have been brought against many newspapers "the english guardian" included for calling almost ritually for a Republic. Perhaps English republicanism does not excite such "insecurity"?

Ahern and Aznar met the Bushes this week.
Ahern met George and Aznar met Jeb.
Both had important current and long standing agenda and business to attend to in their respective states of the European Union.

everytime Aznar meets Jeb there's loads of Spanish Republican flags out.

Velvet underground -
(doesn't read as good as it sounds)

Well, I'm beginning to see the light.
Well, I'm beginning to see the light.
Some people work very hard,
but still they never get it right.
Well, I'm beginning to see the light.

I wanna tell all you people, now.
Now, now, baby, I'm beginning to see the light.
Hey, now, baby, I'm beginning to see the light.

Wine in the mornin', and some breakfast at night.
Well, I'm beginning to see the light.

Here we go again, playing the fool again.
Here we go again, acting hard again.
All right!
Well, I'm beginning to see the light!
I wanna tell you, ooh-oh-oh!
Hey, now, baby, I'm beginning to see the light!
It comes very softly now.
I wore my teeth in my hands so I could miss the hell of a night.
Hey! Well, I'm beginning to see the light!
Now, now, now, now, now, now, now, now, now, baby,
I'm beginning to see the light, now!
It comes softer!
Hey, now, baby, I'm beginning to see the light.

I met myself in a dream, and I just want to tell you,
Everything was alright.
Hey, now, baby, I'm beginning to see the light.

Here comes two of you.
Which one will you choose?
One is black and one is blue,
Don't know just, what to do.
Alright!

Well, I'm beginning to see the light, oh, now, here she comes!
Hey, yeah, baby, I'm beginning to see the light!
Oh-ahhhh!
Some people work very hard,
But still they never get it right.
Well, I'm begining to see the light.
Ah, it's getting a little softer, maybe, in there.
Now, now, baby, I'm beginning to see the light.
Ah, it's coming around again,
Hey, now, now, now, baby, I'm beginning to see the light.
One more time.
There are problems in these times,
But, woo!, none of them are mine!
Oh, baby, I'm beginning to see the light.

Here we go again,
I thought that you were my friend.
Here we go again,
I thought that you were my friend.
How does it feel, to be loved?
How does it feel, to be loved?

=====================
How does it feel indeed?
