Fianna Fail promise more pigs, more people in jail

Election promises can be very revealing, let's see what the Republican Party is promising Promising to expand the the number of cells to take care of the every-growing numbers of satisfied citizens, Fianna Fail also promised a more secure police state, pledging to introduce an extra 2000 officers. I know that many will think me naive and attack me for this statement, but I for one welcome this promise from Fianna Fail and intend to back them to the hilt in the upcoming election. This move represents a bold break with the past mores and behaviour of the Republican Party (FF). Bertie Ahern has shown true leadership in deciding to "crack down" on the corruption rampant in Irish political life. I ask the begrudgers and cynics, "What other party is preparing gaol cells for its supporters and members? What other party is committing our tax-funds to a badly needed extra 2000 officers to sift through the financial documents, the unfollowed leads from past Tribunals (mmmmm...BSE burger anyone? How about a prime intervention rump roast?) and rumours of rezoning? I call this a bold and visionary gesture. |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5The gardai have ajob to do aswell and Im sure there has been times when you have gone to them to help you or they have helped you in some way.
Sure they are not angels and true there is a lot of curroption in the gardai, But calling them pigs is just Ignorance.
Foolish ignorance.
There isnt enough gardai to fill the roles.
Fianna Fail suck big time though.
5 years in power sitting on their hands, and now coming up to a general election you believe their promises? Democracy at work.

Policemen are the layer of violence that ensure the misery and injustice of the world will continue, by protecting the status quo. Pigs, who merely roll around in shit all day, are much less offensive creatures. So don't give pigs a bad name.

I have NEVER been helped by the Gardai. I have had my neighbour's house robbed and their car stolen over a 30 minute period while I called the Gardai 4 times. They were just to busy and under-staffed to be there I suppose.
I wonder what they were busy doing? Very possibly they were still recovering their physical exertion during a demo that I was on when they assaulted a friend.
Or possibly they were riding motorcade duty for some politician that was in a hurry to get somewhere to steal some more of my money.
Or maybe they were busy breaking a strike.
Or perhaps they were moving homeless people out of sight of sensitive rich shoppers.
I'd rather the money went into social services, building some nice new Halting Sites in Blackrock and Killiney.
Actually I'd like to see a nice halting site on Ailesbury Rd. I think that would demonstrate our commitment to being a modern country.
adding more police to the situation and building more jails is not addressing the issues that are happening in the world.
poverty is the issue that the powers that be should be addressing. the poor are the ones who have always been the target of the police. the police are the ones who are now being used by the capitalist to ensure that their profits are secure. more police and jails means that they can arrest the poor when they stand up for their rights to housing, food, medical treatment, dental care, the powers that be are afraid since the majority of the people in their communities are the majority with the least. the issues that need to be addressed are poverty issues. what is the use of democracy with out economice democracy, what is the use of a vote when you can't afford to eat. all over nothr america the increase of police and prisons is in direct link with the number of people who have absolutely nothing don't buy into the propaganda. fight for the right of housing, nutrition and medical care for all.
