SUPPORT THE STRIKING FIREFIGHTERS

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Friday November 22, 2002 18:18author by ASF Report this post to the editors

Sorry about the short notice of this announcement. As part of ongoing solidarity work with the striking Fire Brigade Union workers the Belfast Local of Organise! - ASF will be supporting the picket line at Central Station (that's Fire Station), opposite the Limelight on Ormeau Avenue. This will be followed with a stall and fundraising in Belfast city centre for the striking fire-fighters hardship fund. We would urge anyone who can get to the picket line to show solidarity to do so and would also ask for assistance with fundraising in the city centre. Solidarity is strength. Jason for Organise! - ASF Belfast Local

the action of the firefighters is criminally irresponsible at this time. They are putting lives at risk- let's not forget many people working in the public sector deserve a pay rise nurses, care -workers- 40% on the part of the firefighters is simply not on. This is a macho and agressive culture manifesting itself here. The fire service employs very few people from minority ethnic communities and in N.Ireland there are few catholics employed in this service. It is very much a pro-protestant and loyalist workforce. They
need to wise up -they won't get 40%

Coming up to Christmas, families of Striking firefighters also need toys, donations, for these brave worker's families, so buy an extra toy or pressie for Firefighters families. Standing together with firefighters, DONT LET TONY break us this time.

Firefighters are totally neutral and non sectarian. Most fire fighters are from working class backgrounds, from all sections of Irish society. I have friends from Ardoyne in the Fire service. Fire fighters respond, without hesitation to any emergency, any where, helping people regardless of their race, religion or creed. Firefighters deserve the increase in pay, when useless fat cat politicians can award themselves pay rise of over £60,000 each, they have no right to begrudge brave hardworking firefighters a well deserved pay rise.

the FBU should make an appeal to the rank-and-file in the Army. The Army that will be expected to cross pickets and break the strike should be asked to refuse to obey orders.

Army privates live in working class districts, they come from the working class, their famil and friends are workers. Making a successful appeal to them to disobey their superiors would break New Labour and their Thatcherite agenda.

Hear Hear coinneal. Yes you're dead these firefighters are CRIMINALLY IRRESPONSIBLE, note CRIMINALLY IRRESPONSIBLE. Instead of getting a 40% pay rise they should be throw in prison the lot of them and let the brave young army recruits do the job that they are quite capable of doing especially now that its been proven that people have died as a direct result of their CRIMINALLY IRRESPONSIBLE strike and don't think that it won't happen in the good old UK. Ronald Regan did it in the USA in 1981 when he sacked all the air traffic controllers - the lot of them when they went on a similarly CRIMINALLY IRRESPONSIBLE strike. He sacked the lot of them - HA HA HA! But I disagree with you when you say that there are public 'sevants' who do 'deserve' a pay rise. In my opinion NONE of them 'deserve' a pay rise. They're all lazy good for nothing dossers and spongers and the sooner the better the whole bloated public sector is sold off to private enterprise who will provide a genuine public service the better. I don't want to see a return to the life losing anarchy of "the winter of discontent" in the UK during the winter of 1978-79 when lives were also lost as a direct result of the widespread CRIMINALLY IRRESPONSIBLE public sector industrial action. You so-called 'working class' are your own worst enemies. Of course we see all the usual apologists for this failed marxist leninist shite such as that Pat C coming out of the woodwork trying to defend the indefensible. Pat C why don't you buzz off and stop talking your usual load of nonsense.

I too, agree with King mobster/slobsters extreme right wing ultra capitalist views. Workers who strike should be imprisoned, if only the UK and Ireland were more like a dog eat dog third world capitalist state like Chile or el salvador. If only the rich, powerful, company bosses and beautiful plastic surgery disasters ruled the world with an IRON ROD. I too wish my boring day to day capitalist drudgery would be more like an episode of Dallas, i love all things shiny, sparkly, gold, jewellery, glamourous expensive frocks and big expensive fuel gruzzling shiny keyars. I think torture of strikers and working class people/republicans and trade unionists should be legalised, these people are trying to destroy my beautiful dreams of a Dallas like utopia. A jet set lifestyle, holidays in sun city etc, we all of us want these things, we all want to play the big game hunter in far off foreign soils, we all want a ranch in texas, a jacuzzi, a swimming pool, servants and why cant we have all things beautiful things, becos the poor keep rebelling, they keep striking, organising, and fighting against my beautiful capitalist dog eat dog utopia. We all want to be able to buy anyone we want, we all want to see people as commodities, to be bought and sold, i'd like to trawl the streets at night and pick up a woman, child, man that i want, and pay them for services, whats wrong with that, they do it on Dallas.
