Maharishi's Programme To Create World Peace

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Sunday November 17, 2002 20:20author by Raymond McInerney - Global Country of World Peaceauthor email raymond.mcinerney at ul dot ieauthor address 122 Vale Avenue, Carew Park, Limerick Report this post to the editors

Progress So Far

Over the past year tremendous progress has been made towards the realisation of Maharishi's Programme to Create World Peace. The generous donations to Maharishi's World Peace have played a significant part in this historic achievement.

BACKGROUND

Maharishi's worldwide organisation has been engaged in an intensive fundraising campaign in recent years to help set up a large permanent group of Vedic pandits in India, who will utilise Maharishi's Vedic technologies of consciousness to create world peace. Scientific research has established that the minimum size for such a group to create a global influence of peace and harmony is about 8,000.

Soon after the tragic events of 11 September last year, Maharishi placed advertisements in major world newspapers, calling on wealthy, philanthropic individuals to help establish a one billion-dollar "Endowment Fund for World Peace". One billion dollars would be sufficient to support permanently a group of 40,000 Vedic pandits - allowing for a five times safety factor to eradicate global terrorism, conflict and war, forever.

The wealthy of the world were slow to respond, so Maharishi appealed directly to his worldwidem family of Meditators, Sidhas, and Governors – to all those with the experience and wisdom to fully appreciate the importance and urgency of this project at this very delicate time in the world.

In February this year, Maharishi set a new goal to raise US$108 million in order to set up the first group of 8-10,000 Vedic pandits and maintain it for 3-5 years. Although this amount would not maintain the group indefinitely, it would immediately create the foundation for world peace, and at the same time create a more positive atmosphere in which the funds could be raised for the one billion dollar Endowment Fund to maintain a group of 40,000 on a permanent basis.

At the same time, Maharishi offered to hold special one-month "Enlightenment Conferences" at his headquarters in Meru, Holland, to honour all Meditators, Sidhas, and Governors who contributed over one million dollars to the Fund. Donations of any size, large or small, were also welcome to help boost the amount coming in to the World Peace Fund.

$80 MILLION RAISED, AND FIRST VEDIC PANDIT GROUP TO BE IN NEW FACILITY ON GANGES BY 12 JANUARY 2003

It is a great pleasure to report that, by now, over $80 million has been donated to the World Peace Fund. On the strength all these donations, Maharishi's organisation in India is moving ahead rapidly to build new facilities on the banks of the River Ganges, and it is planned to have 5,000 to 8,000 Vedic pandits in residence there by 12 January 2003, engaged in the Vedic performances to create world peace.

It is on this basis that Maharishi declared to the world with such confidence during one of his recent global press conferences that we will have a noticeably more positive and harmonious world within six to nine months.

THREE ENLIGHTENMENT CONFERENCES HELD SO FAR;

In the past six months, Maharishi has honoured the donors by holding three one-month Enlightenment Conferences, each with 25-30 participants from many different countries.

The Enlightenment Conferences have been a grand success, with participants gaining profound knowledge and deep experiences of higher states of consciousness under Maharishi's guidance. Maharishi has designed a powerful programme for the participants to ensure the most rapid progress towards enlightenment.

MAHARISHI ANNOUNCES FOURTH ENLIGHTENMENT CONFERENCE

Now, Maharishi has announced that he would like to hold a fourth Enlightenment Conference with another 30-35 participants, starting as soon as possible. As before, wealthy individuals who contribute over one million dollars to the World Peace Fund will be honoured with an invitation to attend.

This is the final push to raise over $108 million for the first group of 8-10,000 Vedic pandits, completing the first phase of Maharishi's Programme to Create World Peace, which has seen such unprecedented progress in the past year.

CONCLUSION

According to the Vedic tradition, when donations are given to support the activities of the Vedic pandits in enlivening the evolutionary power of Natural Law, then the donor gains great merit in their own life. The personal experiences of so many donors bear witness to this.

Well, I guess I should have expected the calm reply there Ray. You guys are, after all, apparently transendental. What with your meditation. And I'll bet you 1 billion dollars buys a whole load of personal contentment. Hell, a damn Rolls Royce full of the stuff.

I've always had problems with that particular technique of reply though, Ray. When you look at it - that whole, "I'm new agey, I meditate, I can reply calmly gig" - what you actually get is an insult, wrapped in a pigs bladder of smarm.

The whole glad to see you got that off your chest abraham, gig. It's faux concern, Ray. You don't give a damn about me. You can't. You don't even know me. Sure, you can do it in the whole "I love the world in the fuzziest terminology I can invent" sort of way. But your concern about me, is purely "in what way can I fit this guy into perpetuating my philosophy." Hell. Not a bad follow though either - "I know. I'll sidestep his anger by pretending its a petulant fit - the whole off your chest thing, and then I'll make it seem like he has a problem. I know. I'll ask him if he's okay. That way, nobody has to think about anything anybody actually said, and I can pocket a half tonne of dosh. For world peace. Sure. And fuzzy terminology. And a Rolls Royce to fuzzily talk about world peace in. Vedically speaking."

This is precisely the reason why nobody should give you any money ever Ray. Not even your mother for the busride to Nirvana.

To answer your question, Ray, is it all off my chest? Am I okay. Your damn right its not off my chest. And you're damn right I'm not freaking okay. You make Enron look like St Vincent De Paul, you make Pat Robertson look like a well argued and thoroughly altruistic practice in pious, yet reasoned self examination. This is the real reason I'm not okay, Ray. You people are thieves, and liars, and the most moral of you are too dumb to breathe. You are con men. And you're not very good at it. Thats the real beef, Ray.

Well hell, Ray, you may not like it, but at least I dignified you with a thorough response.

I could've said "Hey Ray, are you okay? Glad to see you got that Vedic stuff off your chest?"

Ray, dear, dear Ray. If you want a billion dollars, you are going to have to come up with a more convincing schtick. And if I'm gonna give you a billion dollars, at the very least, you will have to answer my questions.

That in posting to a ublic disuccion forum site, you direct questions to be answered by email. Kinda confusing. Fuzzy. Vague.

Oh yeat...which is transcendental meditation...science or religion? Interesting question. Especially regarding the tax situation.

I won't email you the question. It is, afterall, a public forum discussion site. For politics.

This is from http://www.tm-ireland.org/

Transcendental Meditation (TM) is a simple technique practiced for 15-20 minutes twice a day while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed.

During the technique an individual's awareness settles down to a state of restful alertness. As the body becomes relaxed, the mind goes beyond all mental activity to experience the simplest form of human awareness — Transcendental Consciousness.

Experiencing Transcendental Consciousness develops the creative potential that is latent in every individual. In addition, the deep rest gained helps dissolve accumulated stress and fatigue.

It is the single most effective technique for promoting health and attaining inner happiness.

In the past four decades the Transcendental Meditation programme has been learned by over five million people of all cultures, religions, and educational backgrounds.

Transcendental Meditation is NOT:

A form of hypnotism

A philosophy or system of beliefs: No belief is needed for TM to work, not even a belief in the technique itself. It's not necessary to understand Newton's law of gravity in order to fall !

A religion: Transcendental Meditation does not involve any religious belief or practice. People of all religions learn TM, including many ministers, rabbis, and priests who recommend it to their congregations.

A lifestyle: There is no need to change one's lifestyle to start TM. No dietary restrictions, no special clothes, no sandals!

Concentration: Concentration is a rigid fixing of the mind on one particular point, holding the attention there for as long as possible. Concentration is not a part of Transcendental Meditation.

Contemplation: Contemplation is thinking about something (a problem, a philosophical idea) or just letting the mind wander along without any particular direction. TM is a very specific practice, very different from contemplation, reflection, or day-dreaming.

And finally........Transcendental Meditation is NOT difficult!

In regarding the tax situation with TM in Ireland, Sorry I don't have the answer to that question.

The following link will give the names of TM teachers in Ireland, who should be able to answer that question for you.

Maharishi’s Alert to the Global Press

Holland Is the First Nation
To Begin Rising To Invincibility

Newly Established Group of 400 Yogic Flyers in Holland Is Creating Coherent National Consciousness

First Signs: The Economy Is Booming and the Government Is Making Better Decisions

The world press should watch for the positive trends in Holland and report the news of this historic national transformation

His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi this week issued a urgent global alert to the world press to watch carefully—and report in depth on—the dramatic improvements that are taking place in Holland now that a permanent group of 400 specially trained experts has begun practising the powerful, coherence-creating Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying program at Maharishi European Research University in Meru, Holland.

Maharishi said the rise of coherence in the collective consciousness of Holland is creating marked improvements in the government and economy of the nation—and in the life of the people—as reported by the Dutch press.
The group was established on April 12. (See www.globalgoodnews.com for a day-to-day report of the good news from Holland.)

"For 50 years we have been talking about creating invincibility for every nation as the basis of permanent peace in the world. Now, with the establishment of this group of 400 Yogic Flyers, we are raising the first country to invincibility: Holland," Maharishi said.

Maharishi added that similar coherence-creating groups will soon be established in 23 more countries. "Then the coherent influence will not remain restricted to those 24 countries: the effect will spread throughout the whole world," Maharishi said.

Maharishi’s alert to the world press came during his May 24 global news conference, which was broadcast live to all continents via satellite and Internet webcast from the Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in Meru, Holland. Maharishi’s next news conferences will be held on May 31 and June 1.

Extensive published scientific research has shown that just a small group of Yogic Flyers in a nation is sufficient to raise the collective consciousness of the whole country to a high level of coherence and integration, which is the basis for prevention-oriented, problem-free administration—and invincibility for the nation. The size of the group—from several hundred to several thousand experts—depends upon the population size of the nation. Research shows that 400 Yogic Flyers is the required number to influence the entire population of 16 million people of Holland.

Maharishi concluded the news conference by congratulating the world press.
"The world press has long been burdened with the job of reporting the bad news of a problem-ridden world—but now the world press is in the fortunate position of being able to begin to report the good news of a world in transformation," said Maharishi, who then emphasised: "This global transformation is not a hopeful dream of some distant future; rather it is a day-to-day phenomenon that began several weeks ago in one country—Holland—and is ongoing today. Our world of stress, struggle, and strife is being transformed into a world of peace and harmony. It’s the dawn of a new time for mankind where all the people will be able to enjoy invincibility rising in every country."

More than 1600 peace-creating yogic flying experts from throughout North America have assembled in Washington, D.C., and in Fairfield, Iowa, to create a positive upsurge in national consciousness and radiate harmony throughout the world.

Organisers claim that after just two days the first signs of the success of the assemblies helped the stock market recorded one of its largest one-day gains of the year resulting in headlines such as Wall Street Euphoria and Blissful Shock with the only blue chip stock in negative territory being Phillip Morris cigarette company.

Maharishi University science, technology and public policy director Dr John Hagelin said such positive news was predicted and although the required number of peace-creating experts for the United States was 1730 the flyers were assembling 3500 as a safety factor.

“As the number of Yogic Flyers increases towards 3500, the world press will have more and more good news to report from America,” Dr. Hagelin said.

“The government will enjoy greater success. Peace and prosperity will reign, and violence and conflict will subside completely as America rises to become a lighthouse of coherence and invincibility for the world,” Dr Hagelin said in a press statement.

The current 14-week run of unexpected good economic, social, and even climatic news in America is about to get much, much better, according to quantum physicist Dr. John Hagelin, who is directing the “Invincible America Assembly”—the largest scientific demonstration project ever to monitor the effects of a group of 1200 advanced Transcendental Meditation experts on national trends.

The scientific demonstration project, now in its fourth month, is being held at Maharishi University of Management and Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa.

Dr. Hagelin said the number of experts is about to rise to 1500. His predictions include:

A surge in the bull Dow market towards 15,000

A drop in oil prices to below $45 a barrel

Falling unemployment rates

Rising consumer and investor confidence

A 20% drop nationwide in violent crime

A peaceful resolution of the standoffs with North Korea and Iran, and a dramatic reduction in violence in Iraq

and of greatest interest to the Republicans and Democrats: the party that wins the November elections will be in a position to hold onto power “indefinitely”

Prediction based on a scientific formula
Dr. Hagelin’s upbeat assessment is not based on hope or a hunch. Rather, it is based on a solid track record of published empirical research—along with the most advanced principles of physics, physiology, and neuroscience.

The research shows that whenever a large number of peace-creating experts—about the square root of one percent of the population of a nation—practice the Transcendental Meditation–Yogic Flying technique together in a group, negative trends, such as crime and violence, decrease, and positive economic and social trends are strengthened throughout the entire population.

Dr. Hagelin said the dramatic transformation in national trends during the past 14 weeks has come from 1200 peace-creating experts who are generating coherence in national consciousness. But that number is well below the 2000 Yogic Flyers required to completely transform the country.

"I wasn't sure how a group of 1,200 "yogic flyers" in Iowa and another 200 in Washington, D.C., could stop the bombing in the Middle East."

The period since this yogic flying experiment started has been, by all accounts, by far the bloodiest in the middle east since the first gulf war.

Of course, in any period it is pretty much 100% certain that some things will get better by some measure. For example, the yogic flyers are now apparently taking credit for the lack of serious hurricanes, yet they are not taking credit for the increasing carnage in Iraq. This despite the fact that they claim to influence people through their flying (actually bouncing up and down on their arses is more accurate) and not metereology.

At least, in any case, the moonbat doctor has made some fairly definite predictions above. It will be amusing to see them refuted by reality.

The yogic flyers use the most basic pseudo-scientific error in all of their arguments. They are rarely precise in their predictions, and mistake correlation with causation. In real science, you don't just have to show a correlation, you need a plausible theory of agency to claim causation.

Otherwise, for example, we would have to conclude that Ice cream causes homicidal behaviour in North America, since sales of Ice cream are closely correlated with murder rates. The reason that they correlate so closely is that both are also correlated with the weather and hot weather in cities causes shorter tempers as well as desire for ice-cream. The various papers that the yogic scam have published are virtually all in statistical publications where such random statistical correlations are welcome. They could not and would not get published in any reputable journal of the social sciences where more weight is put on evidence of causation. Reviewers would immediately notice, for example, that their jamborees tend to coincide with holidy periods when crime rates in cities drop due to people being under less stress and going on vacation to the countryside.

A Quasi-Experimental Study of the Scientific Demonstration Project.

Kenneth L. Cavanaugh, Ph.D., Maxwell Rainforth, Ph.D., Rachel Goodman, Ph.D., David Goodman, Ph.D., Ted Hirsch, MBA

This abstract summarizes the initial results of a long-term Scientific Demonstration Project designed to monitor the effects of group practice of advanced Transcendental Meditation techniques on indicators of economic performance and on a broad range of measures of societal quality of life in the United States.

The initial empirical evaluation of the Project focused on economic impacts during the first 100 days, as measured by major stock market indices. On the basis of published prior research evaluating similar projects, significant gains in major stock market indices were anticipated. As predicted prior to the onset of the experiment, the Project has produced a strong and generally unexpected upsurge in the economic fortunes of the country as measured by the behavior of the major stock market indices. Over the first 14 weeks of the Project, both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 posted total gains of approximately 12%, with the Dow repeatedly hitting all-time record levels and the S&P 500 reaching a 5.5-year high. During this same period, the NASDAQ Composite Index rose 17.8% and the Domini 400 Social Index of socially responsible stocks rose 13.7%. This behavior of the indices is in marked contrast with the period prior to the beginning of the Project, when the Dow was decreasing on average slightly less than 0.02% percent per week from January 3, 2000, through the week prior to the start of the Project (the week ending July 21, 2006). For the same period, the S&P 500 Index was decreasing at an average weekly rate of more than 0.04% per week, and the NASDAQ was decreasing at an average weekly rate of 0.19%. The Domini 400 was decreasing at an average weekly rate of 0.016% from its inception on May 23, 2001, through the start of the Project. However, immediately following the beginning of the Project on July 23, 2006, there was a statistically significant change in the direction of all four indices. The indices shifted suddenly to a strong positive average rate of increase, approximately 0.8% percent per week for the Dow and S&P 500, 1.36% per week for the NASDAQ, and 0.93% for the Domini 400. Econometric time-series analysis examining the impact of the Project on all four indices indicates that these changes in growth rates are highly statistically significant. The analysis indicated that the probability of observing a change this large in the rate of growth purely by chance is less than 3 in 100,000 for the S&P 500 (p = 0.000026), less than 6 in 100,000 for the Dow (p = 0.000058), and approximately 2 in 1,000,000 for both the NASDAQ (p = 0.0000023) and the Domini 400 (p = 0.0000019).

Future research will monitor the impact of the Project on a comprehensive 26-point “Quality of Life Invincibility Index,” which includes a broad range of economic, social, health, environmental, and governmental performance indicators.

They're Seriously Meditating In Fairfield, Iowa

...........a flow of more than a thousand people headed about a mile north of town to the Maharishi University of Management (MUM) and its pair of golden domes, 25,000-square-foot structures that rise above the rolling farmland's barns and silos. There, the pilgrims sat on mats, chairs or the hardwood floor with their backs to a massive altar, facing eastward toward a blank wall. For 20 minutes they remained motionless, in silence.

Practitioners of Transcendtal Meditation head to Iowa in hopes of spreading peace, prosperity

MAHARISHI VEDIC CITY, Iowa: Meditator Stephen Cardinal believes this blip of a city in southeast Iowa could soon alleviate world strife.

Since the city's founding in 2001, hundreds of Transcendental Meditation practitioners have meditated in unison, sending what they say is a wave of positivity across the globe. In the coming weeks, nearly 2,000 meditators from around the world will gather here to bolster the wave in a mass meditation.

"The solutions of our forefathers haven't worked," said Cardinal, 25, who attends a TM university in nearby Fairfield.

The practitioners will meditate in this city as well as in Fairfield. Workers are busy building homes for 500 meditators on fields where sunflowers once stood. A short walk leads to a colony where meditators stay in white houses with gold-colored roofs, topped with onion-shaped domes.

A TM supporter's private foundation has kicked in $12 million for the assembly. The money provides as much as $600 a month to cover expenses for each participant willing to relocate to southeastern Iowa.

I hate to rain on your parade, but events since then have not been all that positive. That timescale roughly matches some very negative events such as the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the xmas tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, etc.

The numbers of Yogic Flyers that are required to give a positive measurable effect on world affairs would have to be in the region of 8,000 i.e. the square root of 1% of the world population.

The Global Country of World Peace is actively gathering Vedic Pandits, experts in Yogic Flying and Vedic Recitation to practice their programme together in large groups in India. When these groups each and surpass the required number of 8,000 there will be a marked positive transformation in world affairs.

In the USA , an Invincible America Coarse started back in the 29th of July to bring together 2,500 Yogic Flyers to practice their programme together on a daily basis to bring security to America and defuse the precarious escalation of conflict in the world. The numbers of Yogic Flyers have started was about 1,100 in numbers, and this number is now steadily increasing to over 1,700.

Since the start of the Invincible America Coarse there shows strong signs of positivity in the US economy plus a destructive hurricane free season. Once the numbers of Yogic Flyers on a regular basis reach 1,730 the squareroot of 1% of US population, there will be a strong positive transformation in the US with the Government and the people. This number should be reached and surpassed within the next couple of weeks. Skeptic and everybody else should regularly check the news to see the changes that are and will happen in America. They will notice the positive trends taken place in the US, and the softening of US foreign policy from the Bush Regime.

On 17 December His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi gave a powerful message to the world that a new and effective approach is needed to create world peace. 'Bring Vedic Pandits from India to your country,' Maharishi said. This will more rapidly create the influence of invincibility for every nation--over night.

Maharishi offered to the world that: 'We have a powerhouse and we can bring light in every home in every village. So we are not satisfied with light in one place here and there. We want the whole world in bright light.'

In the treasury of the Global Country of World Peace, money is there for every country to invite and maintain a group of Vedic Pandits from India. In one week we can have invincibility in every country, he explained.

'The situation of administration of the human race is very pathetic.... Don't be satisfied with little profit here and little profit there. The state of enlightenment has become easy. What can you not do. Make use of it....'

'Every father who loves his son, everyone who loves himself, this is a great alarming message I am giving. I am suggesting a programme for instant raising of invincibility to every country. Instantly raising the country to invincibility only requires a small number of Yogic Flyers, and we have the required number of flyers.

'UNESCO has declared Vedic chanting to be the common heritage of mankind. You have it; now you have the opportunity to use it. This is the one level on which all the countries will be tied together.'

'Slow going, slow going, we are tired of it now,' Maharishi said. The time is now to raise all nations to invincibility by bringing Vedic Pandits from India who have Vedic procedures to raise whole nations to invincibility.
