The Flood Tribunal has revealed a nasty mess of corrupt dealings, but those who have wronged us all have done more damage than the Tribunal itself can correct. ''This week saw the publication of the Interim report of the Flood Tribunal, chronicling a sorry, shameful thirty-year tale of greed and corruption from the highest levels of government downward. The story emerges, slowly and stinking like some dead thing dragged out of water after long immersion, and we are revolted by what we see. Elected representatives, members of the legal profession, accountants and developers have colluded to get rich at the expense of both the people and that most powerful creation of collective intellect, the State. The pursuit of money by a small but influential group of people has, for example, left a lasting legacy in terms of planning and rezoning decisions which will affect for many years the ordinary citizen possessed of the simple desire to own a home. But the damage goes deeper than that.'' read more at click above and then add ?sid=344 |

Jump To Comment: 1 2Yesterday's (Monday) Irish Times reported that Frank Dunlop is
to spill the beans next month at the Flood Tribunal about 6 FFs,
2 FGs and one Independent councillors who took bribes to get the
CarrickMines land rezoned.
This is the same land that the owners who have gone to great lengths
to keep the names secret who are seeking initially 150 millions
reduced to 47 million for compensation over the compulsory purchase
of some of the land for the motorway.
It is known that the pre 1997 motorway plan was NOT going to go through
the archelogical site. Does anybody know if it was going to avoid these
rezoned lands too?
If so, it would explain, why the motorway plan was rediverted to the
present course, which is the destruction of our hertiage, so that a
bunch of criminals could then get millions in compensation.
Come and visit, see the castle for yourself!! Stay an hour, a day, a week, a year, all are welcome, all the comforts of home, except electricity but even that's being sorted and there's a brand new bedroom now with beds and all!! Wow! Could it get any better??
Really, all visits are appreciated, call in for tea, lend a hand with the cleaning and organising the interpretive centre. If you are in a college society try to get you group to come for a weekend. Bring your kids, dog, whatever, just visit. Any concerned citizens interested in moving down (even for a while) e-mail the carrickminders at [email protected], or ring the site phone 0879627243
