Systemic State Corruption

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Wednesday October 02, 2002 10:52author by Finnachta - www.finnachta.comauthor email finnachta at finnachta dot com Report this post to the editors

Republic of Ireland

One of the most promising hopes for the future (for challenging systemic state corruption) that I have come across during the past four years or so concerns a media organisation named Indymedia - which provides ordinary individuals with the opportunity to publish their "news and views" globally: and instantly (more or less) - thereby removing control from those who dominate (and manipulate!!!) the flow of information at present. Provided the new freedoms which this organisation offers are not abused too much by those who are that way naturally inclined (and/or otherwise motivated), it seems to me that Indymedia has enormous potential for combating the corruption problem. Further information regarding Indymedia (which is possibly just one of several such Internet organisations now in operation) can be found at the following www page address: http://homepage.eircom.net/~williamfinnerty/news/moreover/Default.htm

Subject: Systemic State Corruption

Hello,

Having now reached the end of four very difficult years work spent on the study of "Systemic State Corruption" in the Republic of Ireland, an attempt has been made to define the "core problem" in "less than 200 words". This attempt can be seen at the following www page location:
http://www.finnachta.com/28Sept2002_.htm#STATE CORRUPTION:

In passing, it may be worth mentioning that an associated spin-off difficulty which is briefly outlined at the www page location immediately below strongly suggests (to me at least) that the European Union/Parliament MIGHT have a very serious problem with "systemic corruption" as well; and, that the Republic of Ireland is by no means alone in its troubles:
http://www.finnachta.com/28Sept2002_.htm#eu

A backup copy of the two short pieces of text referred to above can be found at www page address:

http://homepage.eircom.net/~williamfinnerty/28Sept2002_.htm

Writing as a person who has had many years experience of dealing with the practical difficulties that arise in connection with Quality Assurance systems in large industrial organisations, it might also be worth mentioning the following QA maxim: "A problem well defined is a problem half-solved".

The major weakness at present in dealing effectively with the overall problem of "political" corruption is that (as I see it) the politicians and business executives are getting too much of the blame. In reality, people such as senior lawyers, senior civil servants, senior media executives, senior bankers, senior members of the medical profession, "spin-doctor" consultants, and so on, are just as much to blame: and far more so in certain respects I suspect.

Further information regarding Indymedia (which is possibly just one of several such Internet organisations now in operation) can be found at the following www page address:
http://homepage.eircom.net/~williamfinnerty/news/moreover/Default.htm

Sincerely,

William Finnerty.

There's nothing about Indymedia on the page you linked to. Can you please explain why you said that further information could be found there?

I have just checked the page that the link takes you to and the Indymedia information was there.

It is in the frame between the two "flashing" NEW signs, and just above the "Zeitguist" links.

In fact the Indymedia information has been at the position described above for the past or four weeks - maybe longer.

The more links to Indymedia the better,
though it might be worth pointing out that
there are more indymedia groups than first appear.
Many groups operate "freemedia" centres in support and tandem with "indymedia".
The crossover is obvious between contributors and info, so why?
Well when Bush 2 made his first appearance as a US president at an "unelected hyper-capitalist institution meeting" in Quebec, the indymedia centre was closed before his arrival in Quebec.
(The order was enforced by the FBI themselves acting out of jurisdiction but who cares!?).
In Barcelona for the previous "council of heads of states of the EU meeting" we actually had three "indymedia centres" on the go.
One web site but loads of little eggs in different baskets.
This is advice to anyone who wishes to join the indymedia phenomona.
eggs and baskets.
more info can be found by going to
Quebec.indymedia.org
by the way
the nice people of Quebec have informed the Catalan people that they to intend to seperate their state from Canada and are aiming to win support for this in a referendum 2005.
This should be happy news for nationalists everywhere.
This should be happy news for democrats everywhere.
This should be happy news for republicans everywhere.
This should be happy news for anarchists everywhere.
Because we know it is easier to be an anarchist in a little state than in a big imperialist one.
Less for us to rant about and change.
:-)

That's not information, idiot. That's a link.

You emailed all the press, and wrote an article on Indymedia, to tell everyone that your page contains a link to Indymedia.

There's no information there. You're misleading everyone. All your page has is the word Indymedia. Not very informative, sir.

There are two Indymedia links provided on my page: one of them takes people DIRECTLY to the "Ireland" Indymedia site; and, the second link takes people DIRECTLY to the "Worldwide" Indymedia site.

It looks to me as though there may be NO pleasing some Indymedia people?

I'm not an Indymedia person, I'm just capable of telling the difference between the work "link" (with four letters) and "information" (with eleven letters).

You are a liar, a crank, and an obsessive. You also have a terribly high opinion of your place in the world and it's no surprise that you are ignored.

I hope that you are exposed as the sad man that you are.
