Net migration?hit a record high of nearly one million in 2023, 170,000 more than previously thought, in an extraordinary indictment of the Tories' post-Brexit record on 'cutting immigration'. No wonder the NHS is overrun.

Ballyphehane & South Parish Campaign Against the Household and Water Tax (CAHWT) Picket Ciaran Lynch's Clinic

Ballyphehane & South Parish Campaign Against the Household and Water Tax (CAHWT) Picket Ciaran Lynch's Clinic

Members of the Ballyphehane and South Parish, Campaign Against the Household and Water Tax (CAHWT) picketted Ciaran Lynch's Bandon Road clinic, on Friday the 23rd of March at 6pm.

The Ballyphehane and South Parish CAHWT local groups expressed their outrage at being berated in the media by the government TD for their democratic preference in boycotting this unjust and regressive form of taxation. This unfair taxation is being imposed on ordinary people by the government in order to pay for the bank bailouts and the costs of the developers, bankers and big business.

Ballyphehane Branch Secretary Eric Hayes said:

"The Cork Campaign Against Household & Water Taxes (CAHWT) is calling on the public to join their nearest local protest group and get involved. Here in Cork and throughout the country a massive campaign of resistance has emerged. For instance, in the last three weeks of February more than 1500 people attended 21 local meetings in Cork with an average attendance of more than 70. Only a mass non-payment campaign will defeat this unfair and regressive tax being imposed on us by the government in order to pay for the bank bailouts. Remember, that along with the water tax, these two taxes will soon rise to €1200+. The Cork Campaign Against the Household Tax provides us the means to do so. The imposition of the extremely unpopular household tax means this is now that time to resist, and to act. Don't register, don't pay"
