The Annual 1916 Easter Commemoration in Cork took place on Easter Sunday April 8th. Year on year the numbers attending grow and this year was no exception. Assembly took place at the Wilton Roundabout at 2.30pm. The parade then proceeded to the Republican Plot, Saint Finbarr's Cemetery lead by a Colour party from Sinn Féin (Poblachtach) – Cork, followed a number of pipers of the ex-Cork Volunteer Pipe Band, Cumann na mBan and a large contingent of the public embracing all age groups. ... read full story / add a comment

ON this the 91st anniversary of the 1916 Proclamation of the Irish Republic, the Leadership of the Republican Movement sends greetings to members, supporters and friends throughout the world. We send a special greeting to our imprisoned comrades in Portlaoise and Maghaberry, Co Antrim and applaud the continual prison protest in Maghaberry which has been ongoing since last June. On this note we would like to extend our appreciation to the Republican Prisoners Action Group who have organised and promoted the outside activity in support of the protesting prisoners. As part of the demilitarisation program under the Good Friday Agreement, the British government have finally lived up to their commitment and pulled their war machine out of Crossmaglen.
