A Scottish anti-nuke activist yesterday told the local court near Faslane nuke base that until the courtroom was accessible to all the public (people in wheelchairs included) it surely couldn't be said to be a place where fair and public tribunals are held. This press release reminds me, I don't recall seeing a ramp or lift at the entrance to Ennis courthouse, where Mary Kelly is on trial again today. Hmmm. ... read full story / add a comment

Last weekend, Young Fine Gael (YFG) in co-operation with two youth political parties in the Ukraine, Young Rukh and the CDMU, expressed our concern with the manner in which the government of the Ukraine is carrying out the Presidential Election campaign due on October 31st and called for those elections to be carried out in a free and fair manner. A large number of international bodies have expressed concern with the manner in which the electoral process. It is imperative that these elections abide to general European practice, and that the attempts by the government to restrict opposition access to the media, hold rallies and canvass support must be ceased immediately. ... read full story / add a comment

The calendar was set at October 20, 2000. The political prisoners decided to resist the state of Turkey's project to set up isolation prisons. In the face of the state's uncompromising attitude, the prisoners started the Death Fast (a form of hunger strike). Because isolation and torture mean death. The prisoners preferred death while resisting to surrender. ... read full story / add a comment

Below is a proposed text for a 'No Platform Policy' for TCD. We will be circulating copies to the TCDSU and amongst the political parties over the next few days and are expecting their full support.

Also, we are confident that those who stood up to the fascists in UCD will support our campaign to deny the extremists the oppurtunity to use TCD as a recruiting ground for hate. ... read full story / add a comment
