"In Ireland Republican Sinn Féin has played and continues to play a leading role in opposition to the illegal Anglo/US led occupation of Iraq. Irish Republicans have throughout our history opposed all imperialist wars of conquest, from the Boer War fought by the British in South Africa at the turn of the last century, the First World War right up to the Gulf war in 1991 when we were the first to protest at the landing of US warplanes at Shannon airport. ... read full story / add a comment

Students Against Poverty would like to thank all those who give their time and help over the last 5 weeks. With little recources and even less experinece we have managed to fill a 45 seater bus, of school students, to attend the G8 protests in July. From the start all decisions were democraticaly decided. A series of debates and discusions were held where members had a chance to speak about issues such as war, age discrimanation and anti_racism. Through a range of events, we raised over £2000. This meant that a bus seat only cost £15 which was essential as school students are generally skint. A big thank you to all those who donated. Unfortunately, due to exams, SAP will be diappaering for the next 2 months(hence the rush in fillin the bus).
So we hope to see you all at the G8!
