The angry worldwide Muslim protests against the publication of cartoons depicting Muhammad in various European newspapers have shown again the enormous anger provoked amongst Muslims by Bush’s “war on terror” and the invasion of Iraq. However the issue that has sparked off these protests and their character has renewed discussion about a war of civilisations or of cultures. These developments are a sharp warning of the divisive tensions can develop in the absence of a strong socialist workers’ movement offering a class alternative ... read full story / add a comment

IT IS HAVING AN IMPACT!

Organise! have called for another picket outside the dunnes stores branch in the Park Centre(off the Donegal Rd) in Belfast for 1 0'Clock this Friday in support of Joanne Delaney, a shop steward sacked for wearing her union badge. We are calling on all activists and groups to join this picket and picket other local dunnes stores branches!

We hope to see you there as so we can continue this momentum and to keep the pressure up.

If people cannot make it to above it would be excellent if you could hold a picket at your local Dunnes store.

It only takes a handful of people to picket a shop. E-mail us and let us know if you can hold a local one. Whatever the case, those going to the Park centre, we will see you there.

This is not enough, and in any event the funding should be coming through all government departments and should include an educational element to educate people to the genetic facts. It is necessary that the government put a cultural integration scheme in place immediately, to do otherwise is to invite ghettoisation and promote the conditions which strengthen racist ideas. ... read full story / add a comment
