There is an article with the above title published over on Anarkismo that discusses free software and related activities in terms of what it means for Anarchism. It draws some parallels with previous freebie or volunteer efforts in the past and compares them to today.

Unlike most discussions around changing the future that tend to focus on key political events and ideas, this article presents the case that the mundane acts of writing free software is creating important kinds of awarenesses in people that would otherwise not be politically motivated. ... read full story / add a comment

The translation here is a bit creaky but please bear with it. The Iraq Freedom Congress brings together socialists, feminists, workers and progressive forces. It stands for:
1. End the occupation of Iraq – the US forces must leave Iraq immediately
2.End the interference of the Islamic currents from people’s lives
3. Guarantee the right of the Iraqi people to make an informed and free decision on the future of political system
4. Restore civil life to Iraq

Its slogan is:
Working For a Democratic, Secular and Progressive Alternative to both the US Occupation and Political Islam in Iraq

The US forces flagrantly provocative raided the IFC headquarter in Baghdad. They arrested a number of its guards and confiscated some important documents. ... read full story / add a comment

"If you don't do anything else this month, you need to go watch this special on how rigged the so-called "free" markets are.

It's clear, concise, amusing in a wry, quirky way...and terribly sad, as it shows that it is simple to explain all this in a comprehensible manner, and yet it isn't by the supposedly fair US media. Commentator Max Keiser does a remarkable job in describing how completely ugly this is, and arrives at the same conclusion I did - playing in a rigged game is a fool's errand."

No, its not just the Great Satan - the USA who executes those convicted of crimes committed while they were under 18, Iran does so as well. The difference is that Iran actually executes children aged under 18. Not just murderers, if you have sex outside of marriage or are gay it doesnt matter what age you are: The Mullahs will hang you or stone you to death.

Iran’s highest judicial authorities have repeatedly upheld death sentences handed down to juvenile offenders charged with committing crimes when they were as young as 15. Such sentences violate Iran’s international treaty obligations, which prohibit the death penalty for crimes committed by people under 18. In some cases, the death sentences also violate Iranian domestic law requiring that children under 18 be tried before special juvenile courts. ... read full story / add a comment
