Employees in the logistics industry all over Britain are being electronically tagged by their bosses in order to monitor and control their activities in the work-place. It's a new way in which productivity is increased and individual people are further reduced to being passive non-thinking cogs in a machine. According to statements made by some of the employers using these devices, we'll even learn to love these new chains. I've never heard of these devices before so I can't say how prevalent their use is in Ireland. I'd be interested to see what action the GMB union will take given that they "will not stand by to see our members reduced to automatons.” If these tags aren't stopped across the water, it's likely that the same multinationals will also introduce them here in Ireland. ... read full story / add a comment
