Statistics released at Westminster last week clearly show that the North's Irish speaking population is eight times that of the Chinese speaking population. ... read full story / add a comment

Notice the use of language -- Australian news radio (12 noon) today broadcast that “convicted terrorist, David Hicks, receives nine month sentence...” – shame on ABC news radio, one can only wonder whether the choice of wording reflected the fundamentalist conservative, evangelical christian values of the Howard-loving producer, who will remain nameless in this report. Unlike American loving evangelical christians, most Australians accept “convictions” as a result of fair trials and due legal process NOT sordid kangaroo court 'determinations'. ... read full story / add a comment

The six medical personnel that are to be executed in Libya for the alleged HIV epidemic at the El Fath Childrens Hospital in Benghazi in 1998- deserves a ping. Europe- The EU has called for unity on the issue of what they consider a mis-trial and the EU is not very unified at the moment, especially on Africa. It is not within the Blair Government's foreign policy to accept the EU, it clashes with their own policy of colonialism or neo-colonialism. The ex-colonies are rising up at the moment. Old Europe is clashing with the US/K hegamony and Africa seems to be where the policy of abuse and imperialism is playing out for the Brits. Bush has his own problems with South America. ... read full story / add a comment

The Peoples' Republic of China have today through their ambassador to the UN at Geneva and their state news agency Xinhua called for a new treaty to stop the militarisation of space arguing (quite correctly) the current international law and treaties are not adecquate to the challenges & criminal potential of state and non-state agencies. A very disturbing Ryanair advert published in the Guardian tells us that Gordon Brown's tax on flights is just the state stealing from us. It also says that "aviation accounts for just 2% of CO2 emissions" so the tax has nothing to do with environment. Faye Turney, a married mother of a young daughter, serving in the British armed forces, was shown wearing a black headscarf as she was interviewed and forced to apologise for "aggression" against Iran. The sight of a non-muslim Western woman forced to submit to the misogynist Islamic headscarf demonstrates the bigotry of the Islamic government of Iran and echoes the forced "conversion" of an American reporter and cameraman to Islam when they were captured by Palestinian terrorists last year. ... read full story / add a comment

Metro Eireann has highlighted an anomaly affecting migrants to the North of Ireland. They are forced to pledge allegiance to the British Queen when seeking citizenship rights. In line with the Good Friday Agreement, they should have the right to opt out of this feudal coercion of pledging allegiance to an unelected monarch and to a contested state in the north of Ireland. The Alliance Party and Sinn Fein have opposed this feudal remnant, that has so far been forced on over 600 migrants. Already controversial in Britain, it is completely unsuited to the situation of contested nationality in the north of Ireland. ... read full story / add a comment

The 24th of March 2007 was the 27th anniversary of the death of Archbishop Oscar Romero who was murdered in San Salvador at the orders of Roberto D'Aubisson. For the first time in 26 years the annual mass to commerorate him was refused permission in the friary of Adam and Eve's Church in Dublin. Adam and Eve's Church is a Franciscan Basillica on the Liffey quays just opposite the Four Courts and has educated many Missionaries who work in all parts of the world. Before Romero was murdered he was denounced by the Catholic church and ignored by the Carter Regime. http://demopedia.democraticunderground.com/index.php/Os...omero ... read full story / add a comment

This interesting article from a hearing earlier thos week into safety at energy refineries makes scary reading for anyone who is being forced to live with one of these monsters on their doorstep. It seems that in the first six weeks of this year, there were 43 reported serious incidents inthe United States, any one of which could have turned into a major disaster. A former member of Shell's staff spoke about two incidents at the refinery where he worked (in Washington). One of these was a near miss but could easily have resulted in a huge fire cloud, the other caused six deaths among contractors. It seems in a majority of cases, poor safety procedures are to blame. Looking back on the 2005 fire I was reminded of this quotation from a Texas City Resident. Mr. Herman Batist: "Anytime you live by a plant like this, you've got to worry about this kind of situation. They don't happen very often, but when they do, the first thing you check is which way the wind is blowing" ... read full story / add a comment

Wind down from your artificially induced stress/pace and confront your personal reality – take stock for a moment. Your existence has been confined to sustaining and maintaining a system that makes ever-increasing demands on your liberty and freedom – the pillars upon which joy and satisfaction are built/derived! The frenzied pace of western society is largely the result of the manic need for ever increasing profits and greater concentrations of wealth in the fewest possible hands, which inevitably places higher demands on those at the bottom of the financial scale. Obtaining wealth is simply a matter of applying unfair downward pressure in favour of upward flowing benefits; wealth is not created it is the result of manipulation and/or theft – the historical record bears this out. Put simply, profit is exploitation/theft! ... read full story / add a comment
