It is ok for this writer to ask if our Fianna Fáil/Green Government are men or mice? because it is quite clear that Ireland's government is male-dominated and amongst the trash of its legacy appears the failure which we have come to know as the Blasphemy Amendment , which was an innovation by a Minister for Justice unconcerned in the state of prisons, best practices with regard to fefamation of religions or personal freedom.

On July 23rd of 2009 the Irish president gave her seal to the Criminal Justice Act and the Defamation Bill, wherein groups are incentivised to take legal action against what they perceive or understand to be published or uttered Blasphemy.

The much trumpeted discovery of RNA and DNA copperfastened in the public mind the discrete, "quantum" characteristics; in a sort of "digital" understanding of human genetics. It may have blinded us to qualitative effects and the incalculable genetic fallout from widespread prescription of neuroleptics and other pharmaceuticals. One of the tragically serious ironies of this is that people of otherwise very high genetic perfection are often the most prone to "mental illness." ... read full story / add a comment

Only IFUT and TUI proposed doing anything about Public Sector Pension Cuts. INTO and INMO mentioned the cuts in statements. There was no mention of the cuts on Websites of the following bodies: ICTU, SIPTU, ASTI, CPSU, PSEU, IMPACT. Union responses are pasted below.

While INTO, ASTI, TUI are running a campaign against the pension rip-off of new public servants announced in the Budget, there is no mention of this issue by the silent unions above. It is believed that ICTU has refused to oppose the new “pension Scheme” which is in effect a tax because the individual gets less out than was contributed (Trident Report to Teaching Unions). There is no proposal by any union to do anything about the pay cut for new entrants. This decision breaches a whole range of existing industrial relations agreements and agreed circular letters. ... read full story / add a comment

First things first! Have your voices heard in those snowy streets and prevent a bad budget! If the current government or future governments show any signs of corruption, change them. Their mismanagement to date should make such political changes not just necessary but popular. Capitalism is in never ending conflict with the working class and with its capitalist rivals. This is the objective reality and why it has to have secret diplomacy. It cannot be honest or its system would spin out of control. The wikileaks have dealt an important blow to capitalism's needs in this area. As a result capitalism is going after wikileaks in a very serious way. This assault has to be opposed. Let us build a Hands Off Wikileaks campaign. The United Left Alliance was launched during the week on a socialist programme and planning to stand in the forthcoming elections. The meeting was well attended and addressed by speakers from People Before Profit, the Socialist Party and Unemployed & Workers' Action Group. The mood was upbeat and even euphoric. However, their charter does not mention imperialism and there were some prominent absences among their sponsors, including éirigí and Workers' Solidarity Movement. There was hardly a mention of work-place organisation and this essential work is not being focussed on by either the ULA or the 1% Network. ... read full story / add a comment

New Zealand has been given another chance to free itself from discriminatory collectivism while the US seems to be still battling with it. NZ was saved by the emerging truth of human rights omissions and one of life's miracles, the major Christchurch earthquake (no one killed). The past 20 years in NZ was based on the simple idea that 'the collective is everything and the individual is nothing' driven by the bureaucracy, the status seekers, and supported by governments not, as often believed, by the corporations, the wealth seekers, who however have benefited considerably. ... read full story / add a comment

In releases giving to the media on the 28th of November, in which Road Tax was discussed,
Minister Brian Dempsey's tone suggested that the Road Tax exemption, that allows people to take their car off the road, was being used willy - nilly by people who had left the country for a period of time and then returned to start re-using the vehicle.
This is a pure distortion of the facts, if not a complete lie, and has to be challenged, even if is only for the sake of correction.

Ireland has an indigenous revolutionary tradition that successfully mobilized tens if not hundreds of thousands in the struggle for more freedom over the 200 years since 1798. Irish republicanism has always included a radical democratic and leveling element and which continues to provide part of the culture of resistance of the most down trodden sections of the working class. Many believe this makes it the best base to build from, at the fifth Rethinking Revolution meeting Andrew Flood asked if they are right? ... read full story / add a comment

Sunday 21 November, the day the Irish government formally applied for a bailout to the EU and IMF, should be marked as the day that the Irish capitalist class were exposed as a rotten, despicable failure, bankrupt in every sense and incapable of offering any way forward. The significance of these developments cannot be overstated; they are a turning point in Irish history and will impact on other countries in Europe and the EU itself. ... read full story / add a comment
