when we finally get a left leaning government and we start really taxing the rich why not use the money wisely and invest it into a renewable energy model that involves Irish people buying shares in the projects and the money raised by the taxes can be used to subsidise the projects. then when we have reached 100% energy production and are exporting our energy we can use the money raised to reverse the austerity measures implemented and improve Irish society as a whole. read full story / add a comment ![]()

Women harassed for trying to access abortion, people expelled from the cities and villages, others dragged through the courts for resistance to the plundering of the earth, immigrants deported for 'alien blood', workers attacked for union activities, and tenants activists burned in the forest. Activities of developers, employers, nationalists; often backed by the police, the prosecution and the authorities. All of these issues will be discussed during the Festival days antywięziennych. read full story / add a comment

Since August 25th, 2014, after reports in the mainstream media that the migration office rejected the applications for asylum of 108 refugees, there have been preparations for the eviction of these refugees, who occupied the Oranienplatz in Kreuzberg in the past (and were evicted in early April 2014) but later signed contracts with the Senate of Berlin, which promised them among others places to stay for at least six months and a single case examination of each of their asylum applications. It is known that parts of the agreements mentioned in the contract have been broken already in the beginning, e.g. that some refugees got their applications rejected without the promised single case examination and have been threatened with deportation already before the six months’ period was over. So yesterday the Senate sent officials to the respective refugees to inform them about the rejection of their applications and to order them to immediately leave their homes read full story / add a comment ![]()

Press Release - Woodland League The public amenity forest at Gougane Barra, co Cork has been clear-felled for no good reason. This is the claim of an internationally renowned Irish tree-scientist and a number of Irish NGOs. In January 2014, Coillte, the Irish Forestry Board, contended that ‘sudden oak-death’ (Phytophtera ramorum) had infested the veteran larch trees in the forest and that urgent clear-felling was essential. Documentary evidence purporting to support this assertion dated July 2013 has been branded tenuous at best by Diana Beresford-Kroeger the renowned Irish tree-scientist who saw no sign of the disease while filming in the forest in August of that year. read full story / add a comment ![]()

WAKE UP COVENEY…..STOP THE LYING, -WE DO SNARE 6000 BADGERS A YEAR RANTINGS FROM OUR AGRICULTURE Minister in the video below "What we are continuing to do is have a humane and targeted cull of badgers which does not involve snares or anything like that. It involves trapping and catching badgers and putting them down in as humane a way as we can." EVEN BADGERS KNOW WHAT A SNARE IS! EVEN BADGERS KNOW WHAT A SNARE IS! SEE THE MINISTER LYING NOW …LINK HERE BELOW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oRSnDcJOxo&feature=you...1m52s Snaring IS the method used to trap badgers by the Department of Agriculture despite the Minister’s outrageous attempt to deny and conceal this fact. Who is he trying to hoodwink? The AOHS believes that the method of capture is a barbaric wire snare which holds the helpless badger in excruciating pain until it is dispatched by gunshot or clubbed to death the next morning at the earliest as some accounts by farmers have revealed. That is if the badger has not been strangled beforehand by the snares wire. When nursing female badgers are snared and shot, their cubs are left to starve to death underground. The DOA refuse to allow a period for lactating badgers to raise their young without risk of torture" read full story / add a comment

Israel's colonial project in Palestine is, in fact, old-style European. Sad that Ireland, with its anti-colonial history, should today hide behind the old bully-boys of Europe. Respect: the success of Gaza's meagrely - armed resistance as it sees Israel again reverting to attacks from distance. read full story / add a comment ![]()

The Mayo Advertiser carried an article on fracking on Aug 22nd. See below. Mayo needs to wake up to the reality that the controversial method of extracting natural gas from rock — known as fracking — could soon become a major issue in the county. That is according to two local Sinn Féin representatives who this week urged the public and political representatives to call on the Government to make its position on fracking clear because a number of Mayo townlands in the Swinford and Charlestown areas have long been flagged as possible fracking sites. read full story / add a comment

On Sunday 7 September, local fascist group ‘Sauvons Calais’ will once again try to hold a demonstration ‘against immigration’ in Calais, bringing in hardcore neo-nazis from across France. A number of high-profile fascists have already confirmed their presence including Thomas Joly (secrétaire général du Parti de la France), Yvan Benedetti (conseiller municipal de Venissieux and former-member of the now banned organization L’Œuvre française), and Richard Roudier (of Réseau Identités). No doubt there will also be neonazi gangs that will arrive before and stay for more time after the demo to attack vulnerable people in the streets. read full story / add a comment ![]()

Too often in these complex times we get just one side of geopolitical events. And a hugely oversimplified colouring book US version depicting who we are supposed to hate and who we are supposed to align with along with emotive reasons for doing so such as "humanitarian aid" or "bringing democracy" or "preventing a massacre by an evil regime" or "weapons of mass destruction" etc etc. A captive media carries this simplistic and cynical message into every home until we are repeating it to each other in the pubs, during coffee breaks at work and on internet chat fora, twitter and facebook. Rarely do we get to hear the alternative to this manufactured consent and cynical propaganda from the other side. So here it is, the truth behind what is going on in Ukraine from Russian adviser to Putin, Sergei Glaziev read full story / add a comment ![]()

As Israel appears to be winding down – at least temporarily – its slaughter, and Gaza starts to disappear from the news, we believe it is important that we not allow the issue of Palestine to slip off the public radar. Now is the time to reinforce one of the key demands of the Palestinian liberation movement – “Boycott Israeli Goods”. read full story / add a comment |
