Smothered Greyhounds found dead.- U bet-They die. The Alliance for Animal Rights (AFAR) wholeheartedly condemns the suffering inflicted on the eleven greyhounds found smothered on Monday on exiting the Irish ferries vessel in France. Five years ago, the Irish Anarchist Review replaced Red and Black Revolution as the magazine of the Workers Solidarity Movement. It’s mission was to fill a vacuum in Irish radical circles, to be a publication that raised questions and provoked debate, rather than laying out blueprints for success, as had been the norm in the more theoretical work of the left. Sat Nov 1st is going to be a Right2Water National Day of Local Protests from 12am onwards The Right2Water campaign is helping to coordinate dozens of local demonstrations across Ireland, all due to take place on November 1st. Following on from one of the largest national demonstrations in Irish history, the Right2Water campaign says it will continue to build a mass movement of opposition to water charges. The campaign – which involves trade unions, political parties and community groups – believes people are angry and unified in their opposition to these unfair charges. The campaign is asking all anti-water charges groups – including political parties – to unify and work together to ensure as large a demonstration as possible in their home towns and cities. read full story / add a comment

Sinn Fein I believe are rightly under attack for the issues around the Cahill case and the way they are said to have handled this. Abuse of women (and Men) exists in the revolutionary left also. When this comes up the leadership of these organizations usually try to cover this up by citing the supposed interests of the organization concerned and the revolution. This puts enormous pressure of the victims of assault and has to be condemned. read full story / add a comment

Single issue demands such as the movement against water rates hold back the class struggle by suggesting that capitalism can continue in the absence of these charges or taxes.
