Hey, everyone!

PETA have just released a brand-new video that asks a simple question: "Whose skin are you in?" And they want you to be the first to see it. Before you read any further, please watch the video. They are trying to get to 1 million views on YouTube, and they need your help to really get people thinking about this important animal rights issue!

They want you to add the video to your favorites and rate it highly, and most importantly, they want you to get other people to watch the "Whose Skin Are You In?" video! You can embed the video using the code provided here and forward it to your friends.

While many view these days with dread; the outset of climate crisis, political corruption and corporate manipulation blocking healthy change, lack of hope that things can change.

Others are starting to see something profound emerging; a re-awakening, an eruption of activity, new and intelligent ways of human interaction. Ecologist Paul Hawken sees this phenoman as "the immune system of humanity finally kicking in" and calls it Blessed Unrest.

As another bubble in all this, yesterday saw the first of 25 days of the first "Global Eco Forum"... read full story / add a comment

***Press Release***

Misrepresenting Animal Rights: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

Although Irish organisations and individuals have sought to care for nonhuman animals for many years, animal rights advocacy ~informed by rights-based theory~ is a very recent development in Ireland. Grassroots animal rights advocates in Ireland intend to defend animal rights from the threat of neo-welfarism. read full story / add a comment

Ciaron O'Reilly discusses all your hardware needs in this three minute rough cut from a forthcoming film on activism in Ireland.

Hammers, mattocks and other pieces of equipment are all weighed up by this seasoned activist. A shears (or even a scissors) does not make it out of the bag, so perhaps the film will act as a timely reminder of the need to raise funds for anti-war causes (in ways other than sponsored haircuts). read full story / add a comment

As Maura Harrington's hunger strike entered its second week today, a delegation of Shell to Sea kayakers travelled yet again to Killybegs, Co. Donegal, to establish contact with Shell's pipe-laying ship the Solitaire. The purpose of the mission was to make contact with the Solitaire's bridge, and to ascertain its intentions regarding its departure from Irish waters. However, the Shell to Sea delegation did not expect the Solitaire to run away from them, which is what it did, thereby refusing all contact with Shell to Sea.

Maura Harrington's hunger strike will end when the Solitaire leaves Irish territorial waters, or else she will die. read full story / add a comment

The Shell to Sea Flotilla took to the waves in Broadhaven Bay this evening towards sunset in an attempt to foil winching preparations in advance of the pipe-laying ship the Solitaire’s arrival possibly sometime soon. The intrepid S2S Flotilla were opposed in their mission by Shell’s fleet of security mercenaries, Gardaí, and the Irish Naval service, which were deployed in overwhelming numbers and in an aggressive, deliberately un-safety-conscious manner. Seven S2S marine protestors were arrested and taken to Belmullet Garda station. In a simultaneous action at the gates of the Shell Glengad compound a local man was arrested and taken to Belmullet Garda station. An earlier marine S2S sortie successfully held up shore-based dredging operations in the Glengad compound this afternoon for about two hours; there were no arrests that time. read full story / add a comment
