A national internship scheme has been launched today in an effort to bring people off the unemployment register and back into the workforce. It has now been revealed that the order of nuns who ran the notorious Magdalene laundry in Drumcondra were receiving thousands of pounds through wills and legacies during the period while hundreds of women and young girls were forced to work six days a week for no pay and no pension. The death has occured of Margaret Gaj (nee Dunlop), a founder member of the Irish Women's Liberation Movement. She is survived by two sons, three granddaughters and three grandsons. She had other relations in Scotland but at this point I do not know their details. read full story / add a comment
