The third in a series of Friday Pickets at the Statoil on the Dublin Road will take place this Friday 9th Sept from 5-7pm. We are planning to hold a picket at this Statoil every Fri in September in the run up to the big OCT 1ST demo in Dublin. All Welcome, Bring banners, placards ect. IAN Blair, Commissioner of London's Metropolitan Police, admitted on July 22nd, 2005 that Britain is implementing a shoot-to-kill policy in relation to what he termed 'the fight against terrorism'. However, Jean Charles de Menezes, the Brazilian murdered on a London tube by British police (SAS?) on Friday, July 21st, 2005, had no connection with the bombings in London on either that day or two weeks previously. read full story / add a comment

One of the most bizarre things about the whole Corrib gas saga is the fact that the Irish tax payer gains nothing from the exploitation of this resource. No new hospitals. No new schools. No new creches. No new playgrounds... We'll even have to buy the gas at the full market rate. Yet, the Norwegian tax payer, through Statoil, has a 36.5% stake in the Corrib gas field and will benefit greatly from the discovery. read full story / add a comment

Organised by the The Irish World newspaper and the Pat Finucane Centre for Human Rights, the Public Meeting, entitled "End Impunity", raises the thorny issue of state actors taking responsibility for killings at The Chamber, City Hall, London, on Monday, September 5 at 7pm. Also addressing the event will be University of Ulster legal academic Angela Hegarty and Phil Shiner, public interest ;lawyer.
