There is currently an exhibition on in St Catherines Foyer and Sports Centre, Marrowbone Lane(off Cork Street). It is a show of 9 art projects completed by students from NCAD and the community groups they worked with for a period of six weeks. The groups involved were Mercy Family Centre, Dan Youth Project, Casadh, Exchange House Traveller Womens group, Donore Youth Service, St Catherines Foyer Youth at risk of homelessness and Dublin AIDS Alliance. The exhibition opened energetically last Monday in a gathering of the community groups, organisers, tutors, students from NCAD and friends and families alike. These two classes have nothing in common, and a constant struggle is fought between them. Over the years we have won free education, free healthcare, the welfare state, the 5 day week, the 8 hour day and the other rights. A mass deportation is to take place this wednesday 27th April. Residents Against Racism have called a demonstration to prevent the deportation. The demo has been called for 2 o'clock outside the Garda National Immigration Bureau, Burgh Quay.

Vlad Putin has taken the podium to give his sixth state-of-the-nation address to the combined houses of the Russian legislature.

Present were -Members of both chambers of parliament and the government, heads of supreme courts, the Prosecutor-General, the head of the Central Electoral Commission, the head of the Auditing Chamber, members of the State Council (regional leaders) and heads of the main religious confessions.

There is no doubt that one of Australias’ greatest shames is the Stolen Generation of Indigenous Children. While the debate over that sad part of our past rages, another Stolen Generation is happening under our noses and we aren’t seeing it.

This new generation of children raised outside their family is not restricted to Aboriginal children but is applied equally to all children across the board.

The Department of Child Safety has been given open range to exercise the Child Protection Act 1999 without any recourse left open to the parents of Queensland. read full story / add a comment
