Socialist Forum The Politics of Privatisation Speaker: KIERAN ALLEN (Author: The Celtic Tiger: The Myth of Social Partnership) Red Parrot, Dorset St Monday 31st January 8pm The government has suggested privatizing the ESB even though the experience in California has shown that privatization leads to black outs and dearer prices. A present it is trying to impose bin charges Dublin. Once they get through it will lead to privatisation – and the removal of the waiver system. Everywhere the same arguments are used to justify privatization. It is supposed to lead to more efficiency. It is supposed to be better for the customer. At this meeting, Kieran Allen looks at the experience of privatization internationally and argues that the opposite is the case. From Jan 20 to Feb 27, an open workshop will be located beside the Project Art Centre on East Essex street, Templebar. Abandoned bikes from rails around town will be brought here and available for people to work on and fix. If you have an old bike or spare parts, or bring them along for someone else to use, if you have bike knowhow and would like to help out drop in.
Like i said its an open workshop so there are tools available, for people to put stuff together with.
