Since July 1 the Israeli government has violated every recent agreement it has made by carrying out military invasions of Palestinian areas, implementing a campaign of abductions, opening fire on civilian areas without being provoked, imposing curfews and not relaxing its “draconian” closure that restricts all movement for Palestinians. read full story / add a comment

A rally to support the human rights of those practising Falun Gong in China will take place tomorrow, July 19th, in Dublin. With two students of Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art and Design, Feng Liu and Fang Yang currently detained for the practise of Falun Gong in China, and it being the fourth anniversary since the start of the oppression, this is a particularly poignant and suitable time. read full story / add a comment

Soon after followed the knee-jerk USA PATRIOT Act, a misguided piece of follow-the-leader legislation ushering in a new era of human rights violations. Writing for LAWeekly.com, Christine Pelisek has compiled a mile-long list of post 9/11 “accomplishments” and statistics facilitated by the expanded reach the PATRIOT Act granted to federal offices and the creation of the Homeland Security department. For example: “Number of al Qaeda or allied terror suspects arrested by officials since 9/11: 2,700.
