Recently released secret documents, released after 30 yrs revealed that notorious hanging QC Basil McIvor was in charge of the community relations council back in 1972. As usual Basil was not very sucessful in promoting community relations, but he did rejoice after discovering that areas of west belfast was then 'free from IRA control'. read full story / add a comment

which is a very real sign that involvement is improving. Welcome to all the new contributors who are "thinking for themselves" "not being humble" and "sharing their two pence worth". It is also probably a sign of increased readership too. Lovely does it! Welcome. One week can never be enough to judge the merits of this space. read full story / add a comment

Palestinians doubt Blair can deliver," announces the BBC. "Four Palestinians die in West Bank," reports CNN. "Many Palestinian families divided," says NBC. The modern media is filled with stories about the Palestinians, their plight, their dilemmas and their struggles. All aspects of their lives seem to have been put under the microscope. Only one question never seems to be addressed: Who are the Palestinians? Who are these people who claim the Holy Land as their own? What is their history? Where did they come from? And how did they arrive at the country they call Palestine? Now that both U.S. President George Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (in direct opposition to the platform he was elected on) have come out in favor of a Palestinian state, it would be prudent to seek answers to these questions. After all, for all we know, Palestine could be as real as Disneyland. read full story / add a comment

This ain't a story, merely some directions. There's a group called the Project for the New American Century, they have an extensive web-site, who's founding members include Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. They've been calling for war on Iraq since 1997 amongst other things. I'd recommend a visit to them, they're ever expanding the ideological basis necessary for both Domestic and Foreign U.S policy. Its the heart of the spin machine. Why not ask them irksome questions too? read full story / add a comment

national / miscellaneous / news report Saturday January 11, 2003 22:50 by Irish Anti War Movement
There is growing momentum for solidarity in the anti-war movement in the United States and around the world. There have been two important calls for coordinated global mass action: one on January 18 that is anchored in the U.S. anti-war movement and another on February 15 that is anchored in the European movement. Below is a statement from Elias Rashmawi, a leading figure in the recently held world anti-war conference in Cairo, Egypt and a member of the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition Steering Committee. read full story / add a comment

Peace campaigners from the Irish Anti-war Movement, the Shannon Airport Peace Camp, PANA, Refueling Peace, and Americans in Ireland against War were on Pat Kenny's "The Late Late Show" this evening.
