The last edition of UCC's student newspaper published a full page anti-gay rant, in its latest attempt to whip up Islamopohbia and homophobia

As a gay student I feel very badly let down by the Students Union at UCC.

If racist material had been widely distribted on campus, let alone an article in an SU funded paper whose sole purpose was to attack black people, there would at the very least have been an immediate statement of condemnation by the Student's Union.

I challenge the SU leadership to deny it. read full story / add a comment

One of the people wanting to be Education Officer has been booted out of the election. Her name is Lorna Jennings and she was seen by many as the favourite. Everyone's been talking about it in Trinity today. According to www.tcdsu.org she was kicked out for bulk emailing the whole college. This throws the race wide open and is going to run and run. read full story / add a comment

President Bush met President Chirac today...there is an urgent need to resolve disagreements and form strategies for peaceful resolutions worldwide.

Within months, the citizens of Ireland review and vote on their choice for the EU constitution.

Perhaps it is time to review our own...in the light of the Peace Process.

Surely: our focus ought to be corrupt practices North and South but not make alleged criminality, at the last hurdle towards the conclusion of the Peace Process. The Gardai exist as do the PSNI let them seek out all illegal practices irrespective of origin and act with Due Process.

Some of the folks from Riot-Folk! Records are planning to come early for the G8 in Scotland and want to tour around a bit first doin' what we do best: playing hard-hitting anarchist folk music.

We're stupid Americans who don't know shit about Europe and we're looking for contacts (anyone at all, you don't need to be in a band or have a venue or anything) who might be able to help us out.

We've played with folks like Billy Bragg, Anti-Flag, Against Me!, Pete Seeger, David Rovics, etc.

You can hear lots of free mp3s at http://www.riotfolk.org plus read reviews and learn more about what we do.

So yeah, if yer from Ireland or the UK and you like music and hate governments, get in touch.

Seán’s ninth birthday is approaching and with this in mind his father Jimmy asks him if he would have any interest in watching Ireland Vs France this coming weekend in Landsdowne Rd. Sean is ecstatic at the prospect, so the following day his dad sets out to purchase a pair of tickets for the big game. To his dismay though, there is a reduced capacity in the stadium due to FIFA regulations and as a result Jimmy is unable to purchase tickets from any of the legitimate sources. For a while he wonders if he might chance his arm and negotiate a ticket from a tout prior to the match, but eventually his financial situation deems this option a non-starter. read full story / add a comment
