galway / environment / event notice Sunday May 29, 2005 23:40 by Tommy Donnellan
activists for the environment are urged to attend the handing-in of a letter of protest by the Green, Galway City Councillor, Niall O Brolchain, to the Norwegian honorary consul in Galway, Ray Mooney, at his office; Mooney Auctioneers, Victoria Place (the south-west corner of Eyre Square). This letter is relevant to the ongoing struggle by Erris residents against the depredations of the Shell led consortium in North Mayo and requests the Norwegian government to force Statoil to adhere to the same environmental standards as they are required to in Norway. This will only take 20 minutes of your time. Please try to be there !. read full story / add a comment

Having become alarmed at the rising crime rate more than two years ago I decided to build a website to highlight the problem.
In that time almost nothing has been done to address the problem. How much more mayhem do we have to put up with before our elected representatives finally get around to doing their jobs? read full story / add a comment

I thought this might be of interest for assorted lefts. I've written this article for a music fanzine in my own area, but it certainly has political relevance, especially for fans of the German industrial metal group. The politics of Rammstein have been debated for years, but those who I have spoken with have always been a little unsure of the actual stance of the band. Hopefully this article will go towards clearing this debate up in some ways. Any constructive criticism is appreciated. read full story / add a comment
