An All Ireland champion bagpipe player was warned by the police not to perform at a Republican Sinn Fein commemoration, the North Kerry branch of the organisation claimed today. RSF spokesman John O'Shea from Ballylongford said that the piper had agreed to play at the annual Shortis and Scanlan commemoration in Ballybunion on 17th August last. read full story / add a comment

Political Status for Republican POWs! Leafleting to highlight the dirty protest and campaign for political status in Maghaberry prison. The GAA Football semi-final in Croke Park on Sunday, 24th August will be leafleted to highlight the POWs campaign. The Minor is at 2pm and Kerry play Tyrone at 3.30pm. All interested are asked to come along and give a hand. Meeting point is the bus stop opposite The Big Tree pub on Dorset Street 1pm. Could we see co -ordinated, active and visual actions in Belfast and hopefully the North against the growing racist attacks on ethnic minorities. Apart from the attacks on ethnic minorites threats and attacks are starting to happen on activists opposing racism and these newly formed racist parties in the North. According to Mary Robinson the UN in Baghdad was playing "second fiddle" to the US occupation forces and this, she says, "was not a good situation".
