This friday at 4.30, in Shafetesbury Square, the South Belfast Anti Racism Network will be having a demonstration welcoming diversity and in oppostion to the racist attacks that have labeled the six counties as the race hate capital of Europe. Given the PSNI's latest attempts to make minority communities feel even more insecure it is important we stand together to show the cowards that carry out the racist attacks in the dead of night are a small minority and that the people of Belfast welcome the increasing cultural diversity. All are welcome to come along to the demo, bring placards, music, mates etc. It should go on for a while so don't worry if you can't make it down for 4.30. Call 0776 237 9343 for details. read full story / add a comment

As if the Green Party hasn't had enough to deal with these days, now this. On August 24, Liz Trojan, the Co-chair of the Pacific Green Party stepped down from her post and exited the Party altogether. Only six days later her fellow co-chair, Jeff Strang abandoned his co-chair position but remained a member of the Party. The two are furious over a recent incident in which an Oregon Green candidate for the House of Representatives, Teresa Keane, switched races and decided to run for US Senate instead.

It sounds frivolous enough. But Trojan and Strang claim that Party by-laws were broken in the process, undermining Green ethics.
