This is thrilling stuff. I could point you in loads of directions at stunning analysis & biting cartoons. But it's best just to look at the nitty gritty of the pieces of paper that go into Hansard - the official record of the Houses of Commons and Lords SW1A Aaakkkmi6mi5. now one of those is a real secret society with hoods on. & I'm not talking about hoodies or asbestos. We do though (get hoodies & asbestos) because we're scum.

Remember that the link in this "other press" article is to a site envisioned for people who aren't like you, that's why it's called "they work for you". Thanks to the foresight of some maligned predecessors & hard bleeding by other predecessors - we either live in the bubble of the Irish diasporia or in the republic of Ireland & a lot of voting households up the wee north.
& it's not wee actually.... It's global. anyway read full story / add a comment

Today, live-line listeners heard first hand from the distressed lady whose rapist was let walk free from the court after a jury had found him guilty. On the very same day, the same judge Kearney, committed another rapist to 15 years in jail followed by 10 years supervised release. Both men broke into the womens houses, both men were under the influence, both men traumatised their victims and both victims were totally innocent of any provocation. What is the difference?

According to judge Kearney, One was a young man from a "good family" and the other wasn't. So what is a "good family?" read full story / add a comment

The year was 1993 or perhaps 1994, I lived in Zimbabwe and the past time that I most enjoyed was horse riding in the Veld near Sunset.

On this occasion....I was being brave. I had learned to canter so it was time to jump. An arena, an enthusiasm, the taste of speed and miscalculation and there was change, I went over the horse and under the horse.

Outcome: private emegency ambulance - a team who I will never know who most likely saved my life. There was only one elderly man as Neurosugeon in Zimbabwe at that time. From there life became a pilgrim path of exploration and many bumps and turns on the road.

Welcome to Brain Awareness Week. Let us all take the opportunity to learn about the brain, about acquired brain injury, about diseases of the brain, about mental health implications,

Is it a sign of modern Ireland? Is it an attempt to get down with Ireland's Yoof? Whatever it is, the rise in party political electronic campaigning/propaganda has, at the very least, a few funny moments as a reward for those with a penchant for punishing yourself by daring to have the images burned into your memories. The wonders of the Inter Web are now being utilised to in the name of the party political cause... read full story / add a comment

The innocence and wonder of children is something that sane and decent people strive to cherish and protect. The ubiquity of terms like "child abuse" in the media can lead us to almost become innured to the reality of these repellent crimes. Rational adults expect law agencies to have such crimes prioritised and investigations prosecuted with professional "zeal" for want of a better term. Alas what happens when a cloud of doubt is cast over those very agencies and professions whose remit is to protect the weak and the vulnerable ? read full story / add a comment
