The Committee which would begin the process of impeaching the judge held it's first investigatory meeting in Dublin this morning. The Shell to Sea campaign condemns the ongoing co-ordinated campaign to de-legitimise and criminalise local opposition to Shell’s project in Mayo. On last Friday, Gardai employed excessive violence against peaceful deminstrators causing scores of injuries and a number of hospitalisations. Government Ministers and the leader of Fine Gael have deliberately sought to create the impression that the campaign is orchestrated by sinister ‘outside’ forces. Sections of the media continue to propagate false and outrageous accusations. read full story / add a comment

If after comparing actual events with posturing and rhetoric you conclude that Western governments serve minority corporate interests rather than the interests of the people, you would have discovered the lie that is democracy. You may also be surprised to discover that the majority of people who live in so-called democratic societies are actually compliant slaves! Governments that are SUBJECT to the rule of minority Corporate/Financial elites could hardly be expected to serve the interests of the majority if their masters specialise in inequity, disparity and the concentration of wealth in the fewest possibly hands. The appropriate response to any politician who states they are serving the interests of democracy, liberty or the people should therefore be, LIAR – unless of course you belong to the category of mindless slaves referred to above! read full story / add a comment

It seems that President of Ireland Mary McAleese has put her foot in it exposing the states intended attack on the Constitution before the official announcement supposedly being considered in secret by all State Parties. In her address Mrs McAleese indicated that the state focus is to be the ‘Home’ and not the Family. The independence of her office must preclude her from such insider knowledge. read full story / add a comment

Dear Tanaiste and Minister for Justice, It is manifestly clear to me as a constituent in the Rathmines area that your failure to grasp the issues of community opposition to the high pressure gas pipeline in Rossport, coupled with your failure to 'Watchdog this Corrupt Fianna Fail Administration' even as you climbed a lampost in Ranelagh, to underscore your desire to end corrupt practice is a sham performance. read full story / add a comment |
