In a statement published on his website on Friday 1 June, the Danish parliamentary ombudsman has criticised both prime minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen and foreign minister Per Stig Møller for refusing to grant an interview to award-winning journalist Bo Elkjær regarding their reasons for invading Iraq.

This year, the International Labour Organization will yet again accept puppet delegations from Iran at the ILO Annual Conference. This is what the militant workers at Iran Khodro have to say about the Iranian delegation to the ILO:

We, the “Iran Khodro” workers, consider your acceptance of these individuals as “Iranian Workers’ Representatives” as neglecting the ILO Laws specially contravening conventions of 98 & 87.

We, “Iran Khodro” Workers do not consider these individuals as our rightful representatives and demand for their expulsion from the ILO meeting.

Things are getting worse for Palestinian women; its not just the Israelis they have to worry about. They are constantly under threat from Islamic Fundamentalists who are trying to impose sharia "law".

Several dozen Palestinian television journalists protested Sunday in Gaza after a shadowy Islamist group threatened to decapitate female journalists who did not dress according to a strict Islamic dress code.

The protestors assembled in front of the office of President Mahmoud Abbas to demand protection after the threat made by the Swords of Islamic Truth group.

Dublin Shell to Sea escalated its campaign against Shell’s command centre at Corrib house on Leeson Street with a blockade of all three entrances. After two hours only four Shell employees had been pushed through the blockade by the large force of Gardai on hand.

The action was called to "highlight the incredible theft of our natural resources that totals 51 billion euros in the Corrib field alone" while "each winter, up to 3,000 people die prematurely every year from fuel poverty". Upwards of 45 protesters had assembled with Shell being protected by around 30 Gardai and a number of private security. read full story / add a comment

Over the weekend, 14 US troops died in Iraq. Since the start of the year, US troops numbers through Shannon have increased. Yet despite efforts from elements in the broad anti-war movement, the recent general election saw little or not reference to Ireland's role in a conflict that has cost the lives of over 70,000 Iraqi civilians according to Iraq Body Count.

The European Commission proposes to liberalise all Postal Markets in January 2009, which means opening them up to competition which may have adverse repercussions for the safety of our jobs. Postal Services throughout Europe are calling for safeguards to be put in place to protect our postal business.
