“Are we seeing a test case, to be followed by others in which respected Republicans, who speak out against Stormont, are then threatened with decades old charges? Are the new supergrass laws and wing at Maghaberry part of this strategy? Are the new partnerships and constabulary boards making the constabulary accountable or Sinn Fein accomplices after the fact?” read full story / add a comment

Since 2007, we have been patient and responded to all public consultations to have Tara included in the UNESCO Irish World Heritage Tentative list.

Given the worldwide interest in the Tara issue, we are hoping the Minister will give us all something to celebrate on St Patricks Day by submitting the Irish list just a little bit early?

The Minister's secretary envisions it will be in for the April deadline for this year. We hope to ensure that vision becomes reality. read full story / add a comment

Taking the movement forward in continued mass direct action confrontation with the capitalist offensive. Defending it against the pressures of its right wing to make it subservient to the union leadership and the Democratic Party. Helping it stand against the pressures of ultra leftism which would cut it off from the support and involvement of the hundreds of thousands and millions it needs to win. read full story / add a comment

David Morbeg writes on the growth in Workers Struggle in Iran. How Independent Unions are once again being formed after decades of suppression first under the Shah then under the Theocracy. Full text at url below.

Iranian advocates of democracy have taken to the streets regularly since the fraudulent re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, promoting a “green revolution” against the heavy-handed, repressive theocracy that rules the country. But there’s another wave of protests that, if linked to the green movement, could greatly strengthen the opposition and give it a more pronounced social-democratic character.

Late last week, for example, workers from the Shiraz Iran Telecommunications Industries blocked highways and sat in the provincial governor’s mansion for three days to protest 13 months of unpaid wages. A few weeks earlier, workers at the Mobarake steel complex in Isfahan staged hunger strikes on two days over pay and pension cuts. read full story / add a comment
