After a hard weeks work I decided to beat the sleeping bug and log on to Indymedia to get the latest news on the war from an independent source and get info on the irish anti war campaign. Part from some very useful info and news bulletins I also got the latest on the infighting between Irelands Pink pseudo socialists. read full story / add a comment

Bikes Not Bombs: Critical Mass Belfast 28th March 03 About 40/50 cyclists & one skater turned out for the ‘Bikes Not Bombs’ critical mass in Belfast to draw connections between our oil driven economy & the war in Iraq. One month ago, War Resisters' International put out a call for nonviolent action at military bases on 5/6 April 2003. In many countries groups are planning actions - in Britain, from where the idea originates, actions are planned at 11 military bases (see http://www.reclaimthebases.org.uk for details). Actions will also happen at the Spinelli barracks in Mannheim, Germany, at some military base in Turkey, at a base in Japan, and probably at many other places. Please let us know soon what you are planning. It is important that the WRI office knows, and can provide an overview on actions on that weekend from all over the world. The call is availabe at http://www.wri-irg.org/news/2003/reclaim.htm read full story / add a comment

There will be a "Dead Slow March to Shannon Airport" on Sunday, March 30th. Assemble at Lidl Supermarket at 2pm. If possible, wear black, paint your face white and your hands red. (I will be there with face and hand paint!!) The idea is to walk very very slowly all the way up to the terminal building, taking approx. 4 hours. Buses have been organised from Cork- contact the Cork Peace Alliance. Hope to see as many people as possible there. read full story / add a comment

The SP claim that they are committed to winning workers over to taking strike action against the war. They have directly counterposed this to Direct Action. However the SP did not participate in the anti war lobby on the ICTU Conference on Wednesday. read full story / add a comment

About forty people picketed Bertie's constituency office ,St Luke's last night; that's about twice the number of the last protest held there two weeks ago. Bertie wasn't in unfortunately -or if he was he showed no inlination of coming out.The only person to emerge scurried quickly away up Drumcondra hill .Somebody told me it might have been Royston Brady. The picket- called by the drumcondra anti war group and supported by the newly formed St pats college against the war- was very lively and got lots of hoots from passing motorists. Drumcondra and st pats groups are planning to hold a joint public meeting early in April. We should have a venue sorted out by next week. Should anyone in the college be interested in getting involved please get in touch on: 087 6988540. read full story / add a comment

Why does the IAWM consistently time demos in Dublin to coincide with other major events? Surely this hurts the numbers attending? eg: 3PM, 29 Mar (national demo): Ireland v Georgia soccer. 2PM, 23 Mar (dublin demo): Ireland v Italy rugby. 2PM, 08 Mar (us emb demo): Ireland v France Rugby, Celtic v Rangers (3PM). read full story / add a comment
