This interview was held the day after Israel broke the ceasefire though it was as yet unclear what the reports from Gaza on the 5th November would lead to. It has been edited to include a response from RD to the latest round of violence against the Palestinians and sad to say it seems the media are incapable of reflecting accurately on the causes and ongoing atrocities inflicted on Palestinians by Israel. The taboo about criticising Israel is still largely intact. read full story / add a comment

Government's Intolerance of Civil Society Voices Reveals Double Standards—and its exploitation of the Gaza tragedy.

Plain clothes security agents attacked and disrupted a gathering organized by the Iranian nongovernmental group Mothers for Peace to protest ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip in front of the Palestinian embassy in Tehran on 11 January, the *International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran* reported today.

A massive cache of weaponry is on its way to Israel - via the Greek port of Astakos. Efforts are being made internationally to stop the shipment at the port. The report below will hopefully be up on Indymedia Athens soon, but if anybody has any contacts in Greece please ask them to do what they can to alert people and organise some effective but peaceful attempt to stop this shipment - which may well be used to kill more Palestinainas and possibly to assist in a further assault on Lebanon.

It set sail from Cyprus today. Report below. Word of this mission needs to be spread around the world and its progress monitored very carefully. These people are really vulnerable. Given what we have just witnessed in Gaza we know Israel is capable of violent defiance of world opinion, of law and of even basic humanitarian considerations and that it thinks nothing of murdering innocent people intent only on providing humanitarian aid. John Ging of UNWRA has reported how he had to withdraw UN aid workers because they were being deliberately, and repeatedly targetted by the very IDF units they had negotiated with for safe passage into Gaza to help relieve suffering. He called a halt to the effort when the IDF murdered one of them and has given explicit interviews with Al Jazeera English since. Let's hope this boat doesnt suffer the same fate. read full story / add a comment

Al Jazeera is reporting that: A resolution condemning Israel's military offensive in Gaza has been adopted by the UN Human Rights Council.
The non-binding resolution said the assault, which has now entered its third week and killed more than 900 Palestinians, had "resulted in massive violations of human rights of the Palestinian people".Fewer states than expected supported Monday's resolution, which passed by 33 votes to one, with 13 abstentions. The UN rights body, meeting in Geneva, accused Israel of systematically destroying the Palestinian infrastructure and of targeting civilians as well as medical facilities.
