Fears have been expressed that an attack or bombing of imc palestine is imminent as the Israelis have realised that it is where most information from within the 'military zones' is coming from. This information has come from Mary Kelly - an Irish Civilian Observer in Bethlehem - via phone to a member of the IMC Ireland collective in the last hour or so. Reports are emerging of scores of summary executions (3) of Palestinians by the Israeli Army. INTERNATIONALS IN WITH ARAFAT CALL FOR THEIR AMBASSADORS by Huwaida Arraf & Adam Shapiro • Sunday March 31, 2002 at 12:48 PM The 34 foreign civilians are asking for their respective ambassadors to urgently come to President Arafat's compound. 50 International civilians entered Yasser Arafat’s Presidential Compound today, which is under continuous siege by the Israeli Forces. The group of Internationals is comprised of civilian volunteers from France, Brazil, Canada, Belgium, Britain, Ireland, Germany, and Israel who are here on a humanitarian mission. Thirty-four (34) international civilians remain inside. The group has stated that they will remain inside of the Presidential Compound until the siege is lifted; they remain in solidarity with all Palestinian people who are now under occupation and extend their demands to include the end of Israel, West Bank, and Gaza Strip. It is getting dark now in the camp- it was a busy day All are expecting the israeli army to finally move tonight... bethlehem TV have reported the israelis taking over houses overlooking the bethlehem area to use as sniper positions. More and more tanks have assembled at various locations. The streets of the camps were completely alive today, after the quiet days of waiting. It was not exactly a carnivale atmosphere, but there was something in the air that was very very close (also in the air, incredible dust mixing with the overcast sky to produce the strangest, mournful yellow/gray color) read full story / add a comment
