About time too, Johnny's recent reign of terror may be curtailed. Guardian piece about two train drivers in Scotland who are the only people trained to deliver munitions refusing to do so because they object to the attack on Iraq. The Government is planning to introduce regulations which will require people seeking asylum to apply as soon as they enter the state. Social Welfare payments will be witheld from asylum seekers who do not claim asylum immediately at their point of entry to Ireland. read full story / add a comment

IFA President John Dillon said today's convoy to Government Buildings could easily have numbered 5,000 based on the high level of support farmers had been shown. They agreed to restrict it to 300 vehicles to avoid further inconvenience. Nice little analysis of some of the real intentions of the US, from a piece she wrote in the Guardian. She was on "This Is Your Life", last night - She is a higly respected figure in diplomatic circles and good to know that at least one heavyweight (albeit former) political figure is prepared to come out and call this spade a spade. read full story / add a comment

People might be interested to know that a plane-spotter phoned up 96FM radio station in Cork yesterday (Thursday) to report having seen eight B52s fly over the city on the previous day. Another caller later contacted the station to say he had also seen these planes (which he similarly identified as B52s), but had counted twelve. Methinks they did not belong to the Irish Air Corps, despite Michael Smith's pretensions. read full story / add a comment
