Jack Jones passed away in his sleep on Tuesday night aged 96. Jones was a life long Union man, veteran of the Anti-Fascist war in Spain and descibed at one time in 1977 as 'the most powerful man in Britain' ahead of the then Prime Minister, James Callaghan.

Cheka Kidogo (Swahili for ‘laugh a little’), an exhibition by fashion photographer Rankin will be in Wolfe Tone Park (beside the Jervis Centre) and O’Connell St (opposite the GPO) from 30 April to 31 July. Rankin traveled with Oxfam to a refugee camp in Eastern Congo and the images he took paint a fascinating portrait of life for the survivors of the ongoing conflict in the Congo.
