Shiúil sí saor as an chúirt i gCill Rúisc, Co an Chláir san oíche Déardaoin ach tá seans ann fós go dtógfar os comhair cúirte arís í amach anseo.
D'admhaigh Mary go ndearna sí damáiste d'eitleán de chuid US Navy chun stop a chur leis an gcogadh i gcoinne na hIoráice. Labhair sí sa chúirt go ciúin, go réidh agus go huasal agus chuir sí tocht ar gach duine a chuala í.
Dúirt an giúistís, áfach, nach féidir áird ar bit a thabhairt ar an fínnithe a albhair ar a son. In aimheoin sin, ni rabhthas in ann tromlacht 10-2 a fháil ina haghaidh.

The Global Women's Strike, an independent and international grassroots women's
network, is protesting the presence of warplanes and other military technology at the
Salthill Airshow in Galway this Sunday. At any time but especially at present, it is outrageous to
mount such a display of military killing power and glorification of the 'work' of killing
over the work of caring for every life, which we women mostly do. Show your opposition to the promotion of killing
priorities over the priority of caring by joining mothers and other women in our protest or calling by our picket and stall on
the promenade, opposite Kitty O'Shea's, to offer support..... read full story / add a comment

On Thursday, the 3rd of July, Mary Kelly walked out of Kilrush Circuit Court a free woman, to the sound of the loud cheers of a crowd of delighted anti-war activists and supporters. She had been charged on two counts – trespass (by going over the perimeter fence at Shannon) and criminal damage to a U.S. Naval aircraft that had landed at Shannon for refueling. The jury found her guilty on the much less serious charge of trespass, with the judge adjourning sentencing until October. They could not, however, reach the required ten-two majority verdict on the criminal damage charge, finally stating that they had reached deadlock and that there was no prospect of reaching agreement. Despite strenuous efforts by the prosecuting counsel throughout the four-day trial to discredit the defence, a significant portion of a jury made up of ordinary members of the Irish public could not find it in their hearts to criminalise Mary Kelly.

BERLIN, July 2 2003 Martin Schulz, German Socialist questioned Silvio Berlusconi’s suitability for his new post.
The German legislator specifically raised Mr. Berlusconi's sponsorship of a new immunity law in Italy at a time when he is on trial in Milan on bribery charges.

"Mr. Schulz," Mr. Berlusconi said in reply, cocking his head to one side and smiling, "I know there is a man in Italy producing a film on the Nazi concentration camps. I would like to suggest you for the role of leader. You would be perfect."

Can someone please shed light on how this man has managed to not only become the Italian Prime Minister but also for some bizarre reason now holds the Rotating Presidency of the European Union? read full story / add a comment
