Statement by CPGB-ML, October 2011 - Immediate publication

Stop the War leaders are trying to stifle debate by illegally expelling those who criticise them -

On 23 September, the CPGB-ML received an email from the Stop the War Coalition informing us of a decision by the "officers group" to "reject the affiliation" of our party. We were told that this was on the basis that the CPGB-ML had been "publicly attacking Stop the War Coalition" in its publications.

We responded as follows:

No basis for expulsion

First: we have been affiliated for many years to the coalition. Therefore it is not now possible to reject our affiliation. If it can be proved that we have failed to comply with StW's constitution in some way, then we would have to be expelled. read full story / add a comment

What is the story with the invisable 6 month war in Libya? Bill Van Auken analyses the latest attempt by the US to ramp up pressure on Iran including an increase in sanctions. The FBI Director said it read like a Hollywood script. Well maybe its just that: a work of fiction. Robert Baer, a 21-year veteran CIA case officer in the Middle East told ABC News that the US charges were not “credible.” He said: "They’re much better than this. They wouldn’t be sending money through an American bank, they wouldn’t be going to the cartels in Mexico to do this."

The White House announced Wednesday that it is imposing a new round of economic sanctions against Iran, while Vice President Joseph Biden warned that “nothing has been taken off the table” in regard to Washington’s response to an alleged plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington, suggesting the possibility of military strikes.

Among the new targets of US sanctions is Mahan Air, Iran’s first privately owned airline, which flies to 12 countries. US officials claimed that the airline was involved in “secretly ferrying” members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps. read full story / add a comment

Things just don't look good for the National Team as ten-man Armenia tried their best to make the biggest upset for Irish football. Ireland just about scraped a win that gave the team a place in the play-off for Euro 2012. Whoever we get in the play-off one thing is absolutely certain, based on the last four or five performances it would be advisable for the hard line football fans to carry boxes of paper tissues, for the tears shed on the night of utter destruction will be a night not forgotten for a very long time. read full story / add a comment
